KENOSHA, Wis. — In the wake of the devastating apartment fire that claimed the lives of three young siblings, the Kenosha community is coming together to support the Kannin family as they face unfathomable loss.

A GoFundMe organized by Terren Carleton was launched to help the children’s father, who lost everything in the fire, including his three children — Rylee, Connor, and Alena. Carleton described the children as “the most amazing kids” who “could light up any room they entered,” remembering them as brilliant, loving, and full of life. She said their father “did everything he could for them,” and hopes the community will rally to help him during this unimaginable time.

A second fundraiser was created by Ashley Kailing, a close friend of the children’s maternal family. In her message, Kailing wrote that Thanksgiving turned into an unimaginable nightmare, and emphasized the profound heartbreak of losing all three children at once. She described the siblings as “bright lights in this world,” each with their own unique personality and joy that touched everyone who knew them. The GoFundMe aims to provide funeral assistance and essential support for the family in the weeks ahead, noting that no parent should ever have to bury their children, let alone all three at once. Kailing thanked all who donate, share, or offer prayers, saying every gesture helps remind the family that they are not alone.

    1. I will wait to learn more before I give. I really want to know that these tragic deaths were not actually homicides. Remember, sometimes parents kill their children.

        1. looks like a new report today shining a little light on his theory, don’t be so quick to judge those judging….

          1
          1
      1. That’s my nephew those are his kids
He was the single parent raising them on his own
It was a tragic accident 😔
He’s in pain 💔 😢 and suffers every moment
He loved his babies more then life

        18
        4
    2. I’m also confused why soany and why both parents are also having go fund me pages? I mean I know the mother lost her kids as well but there should only be one go fund me and should be for who’s name the apartment was in this is crazy so many giving on each go fund me page. Let’s help but do this right people

      21
      2
      1. Probably because the parents have nothing to do with each other. The father was obviously the one raising the children..
But regardless of what their personal issues were, people are allowed to feel badly for both the parents, and give both fundraisers money

        4
        2
        1. How is it obvious the father was raising the children. The news story said they went there for a sleepover The dad ran out and left the kids to get help. Help could have been gotten after the kids were out.

      2. The mom is paying for the burial & dad is paying for his loss in the apartment. Not the same . They had 50/50 he did not raise them on his own! His family is lying & trying to hide the truth & make a dollar.

        1. Actually the father has paid for everything the mother is has not even forked out any type of money from her GoFundMe for the kids funeral expenses

  1. Agreed, I’ll wait to hear more details first. Also, I find it just weird and inappropriate as fuck that the mother would use emojis in a statement after losing three children.

    44
    6
    1. Don’t love that the mother has a record, either…..also seems way more preoccupied with taking selfies. Something isn’t right here.

Something tells me these kids were another example of being failed by bad parents. That shit pisses me off.

      21
      3
    2. I unfortunately had the same thought. I’m hoping that’s just the mother’s way of griefing. However, I for one would like more information, and given that there is a go fund me, I think the public is entitled to some answers, because some things just seem potentially off.

Here’s what seems weird to me:

      1. The emojis in the social media post. Something just doesn’t seem right about that. I could see an angel emoji or maybe a cross, but the ones she used do seem bizarre given the context of the situation.

      2. How is it that none of the children were able to get out? You would think there would be a rush to the door, or even an attempt to jump out the window by one of the kids, given that it would only be a one story fall.

      3. None of those kids were even 10 years old, so why was there not an adult that was present and able to get them out of the fire?

I hate to be this guy, especially given that there are grieving family members, but I would like to see some information come out that gives the public answers about to this terrible tragedy.

I’m not suggesting there was foul play, but some things just seem peculiar about the entire situation.

Nevertheless, prayers for the family and obviously for the children who perished.

      24
      3
      1. I just find it odd that today’s youth use such informal ways to announce stuff like this. The last thing I’d be doing after something like this is announcing anything on social media.

I don’t think anything nefarious happened but I’d bet these parents were negligent overall with these kids and this ended up being a byproduct of that. It’s not fair to these kids at all.

Shit like this is exactly why this country is in the shithole in the last 15 years…..inner city or suburbs. Absent parents, negligent parents, etc…..all this is coming home to roost.

        12
      2. If y’all ACTUALLY hate to be these people, then don’t be. Keep this horrible comments to yourself considering you do not know the absolute unwavering love their mother has for her children. I can confirm their mother ate, breathed, slept, and lived for her children. She put the work in to pull herself up by the boot straps when she became a single mom and provided for her children in ways I have not seen other women do. She loved them more than anything else in the world and always put them first. Using emojis is a way to express oneself where words may fail, or to accentuate feelings. Shame on you all for talking about her like this.
The fire did not occur while they were in her care, nor was it in her home.
Do not bash grieving parents. You could be the most careful parent in the world, but you can’t keep your life in a bubble. Blame the apartment complex for not having sprinkler systems that deployed. Blame the source of the fire. Blame whatever all-good god you follow.
But for the state of a grieving family’s mental health, do not blame them.
Donate to any and all of the GoFundMe’s to support a beautiful memorial service, to support the father’s displacement, and to support the family’s need for time off to grieve and find a way to move forward without financial obstacles.
Find it in your hearts to keep these nasty comments away from the memory of 3 beautiful angels.
When the time comes for a cause to be determined and shared with the public, post your thoughts there. Not on a memorial article.

        25
        6
        1. I apologize, but it’s not a nasty comment. When three children die people naturally have questions.

Also, I never said she wasn’t a great mother. There is probably a 99.9% chance this is just a terrible accident. However, numerous people found some things about the story strange. It’s not wrong to ask for further information about what happened given that fact.

I think people bringing up mom taking selfies, dad being evicted from the apartment, and prior records is not just. (Granted that any of those things are even true)

That’s why I ended my comment with “prayers for the family and the children.” There is probably information that explains all of the three points listed above. It would just be nice to know what that information is. You might actually get more people to donate if people have additional information

Regardless, I’m sorry if you found my post offensive. I’m actually glad you posted it because I feel like it gives the public more information about this tragedy and the good character of the parents according to you. It’s good to hear that it sounds like they had parents that really loved them

          7
          1
      3. The children were not by their self my nephew was 10 I have to do that was seven they were all asleep the way that that door opens it blocks the stairs to the coming down to the living room

  2. Also, isn’t it kind of weird for both families to have their own fundraiser for the same exact thing (funerals)? Wouldn’t it be more productive to just have one?

    36
    1
    1. It implies to me that neither party was probably responsible financially and the family of each party knows that…..hence all the different fundraisers.

      4
      5
        1. Very good point. The funeral business is NOT “Not-For-Profit” – and IS VERY profitable. Spoken from direct experience from the business side of the business years ago.
That said, deepest sympathies to both parents and relatives, regardless of their social positions.

  3. How pathetic the gossip mongers posting on here couldn’t withhold judgment on this tragedy for even 24 hours. Regardless of their life decisions, both of these parents just lost three young sons. Show some compassion and keep your rude comments to yourself.

    18
    4
    1. Amen! Best comment so far. And the only one worth reading! Save the speculations and judgemental BS for when facts actually surface. Just pray for the family, for heaven sake!

      8
      3
  4. The truth is nobody deserves any answers. Just because something is reported in the news doesn’t give you or me the right to know every detail. If you don’t want to donate to there gofundme then don’t. i pray for healing for both of the parents. cannot imagine the nightmare they are both living right now.

    18
    3
    1. Mother blaming the father already, stating he wasn’t even home, removed batteries from smoke detectors, no tears (mother), and now they (mother and her family) state to only contribute to “their” GOFUNDME. This entire situation is horrible, and now there are 3 children gone.. I’m just heartsick about all this…

        1. He didn’t remove any smoke detectors these apartments are s***** I had a neighbor that went weeks with a gas leak in the management didn’t do anything about it there’s been many City violations towards these apartment complexes

          1
          1
  5. …… father is 💯 culpable. Was he home? Let’s see that footage.
Guess what mom… you’ve started to the TV station, MULTIPLE FB posts, that you KNEW he disabled the smoke detectors because of smoking, but YOU dropped them off into that potential fire pit. YOU are 💯 culpable as well! SHAME ON YOU knowing what you knew! You’re no better!

  6. I’m absolutely amazed the mother basically accused the father on Facebook. All the while, many people have mentioned she shed no tears in all her TV interviews and her Facebook posts are fucking cringe worthy basically trying to get attention for HER.

Maybe it’s how she grieves? Yeah, maybe.

However, also note that according to CCAP, the father apparently had custody of these three children and not her. You have to be an amazing piece of work to be a mother in Wisconsin and not be given primary custody of your children. It’s a VERY pro mother state. The court record also shows the GAL trying to get ahold of the father at times and him not replying.

These poor kids died because they had two shitty fucking parents and I don’t care what anyone says about it. Even if the fire was accidental, that’s why they died.

I see a lot of shit posted on this site concerning the trashy people in this community. However, this situation might be the most disturbing I’ve ever come across.

Questions needed to be asked…..something is going on.

    6
    1
    1. Nearly Everyone immediately assumed these were decent parents. They would not make this assumption if this was a family of color. Everyone who condemned those that raised questions in these comments should look in the mirror and ask themselves why they were so willing to cut this family some slack. These people will not do so with a family of color.

      4
      4
      1. Stop begging to make a fucking racial thing out of this.
There’s plenty of real life racial crap going on, you
sure don’t need to make up shit like this, lol. My God.

      2. No one is assuming anything about these people.

Well, I take that back……a lot of the people probably donating to the GoFundMes initially assumed they were decent and donated. I probably would have, too. It seems this story has been picked up nationally so how many of those people see or look deeper than what the headlines say “MOTHER LOSES ALL 3 CHILDREN IN A FIRE!”.

However, yeah, when you start looking into the situation…….red flags everywhere.

Now she makes that accusation about the father and of course people are going to donate even more to her…”oh, poor her”.

I know girls like this. A lot of us do. They are narcissistic POS. They post all kinds of photos of their kids on social media and 99.9% of people buy that and assume they are such amazing mothers. In reality, the mother is there for photo ops and the occasionally takes them but it more concerned about Facebook likes and dating shitheads….the kids are an inconvenience at this point. They cost money, they cost time. This woman apparently used to be like 300 pounds and now is thinner and she probably fucking dies for the attention she now gets (even if it’s from losers) that she didn’t get when she was large. Thus, the kids take a backseat to her.

Court records don’t lie. Again, this isn’t “Team Father”, it’s Team “these shitheads should have been stripped of custody a long time ago”.

The mother obviously probably didn’t light this fire….and the father might very well be culpable. But, dude, you don’t get a fucking pass because your shitty parenting took them from your placement because the court decided shithead father was somehow less of a shithead than the mother. That contributed to this situation ultimately.

Unfortunately this is what a lot of custody cases consist of….not “who is the better parent” but “who is the lesser shithead”.

      3. Oh here we go with the race card. Have you read the comments made about these parents. They’re bad. You’re not a victim of your race. You’re the victim of your actions and blaming consequences on your race.

  7. For those who want to donate but are confused to who/ where to donate, why not donate directly to the Funeral home that’s servicing the family, those way it’ll go directly towards the funeral arrangements.

May Gob bless those 3 beautiful children whose lives were taken way too soon. Rest in heavenly peace.

  8. This is horrible and I wish it never happened. Both of the parents and their behavior is very sketchy to say the least. Why multiple Gofundme me accounts? It doesn’t cost $100,000 plus to have 3 funerals. The funds should be limited to one account and frozen until an investigation is complete.
