KENOSHA, Wis. — Entrepreneurs and small business owners will have the chance to receive free advice on everything from starting a business to taxes, marketing and artificial intelligence during a Small Business Clinic scheduled for May 1 at the Kenosha Innovation Center.
The free event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Kenosha Innovation Center, 5522 26th Ave. Organizers say participants can attend for the full day or stop in for individual sessions based on their interests.

The clinic is being hosted by the Office of Business & Entrepreneurship through the Universities of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center and the Kenosha Innovation Center.
Participants will be able to schedule free 30-minute sessions with consultants to discuss topics including starting a business, financial planning, marketing, home baking businesses, international trade and legal issues.
The event will also include lecture-style group sessions covering business planning, taxes, workforce development, financial record keeping, legal topics, digital marketing and artificial intelligence.
Kelly Armstrong, president of Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood, said the event is designed to give local business owners practical resources and guidance.
“At Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood, this is exactly why we exist,” Armstrong said. “We know small business owners need more than inspiration. They need access to practical guidance, trusted expertise, and real connections that help them move forward.”
Dan Brosman, strategic projects associate director with the Office of Business & Entrepreneurship and organizer of the event, said many people interested in starting or growing a business can feel overwhelmed.
“Starting or growing a business can feel overwhelming, but entrepreneurs don’t have to navigate it alone,” Brosman said. “The Small Business Clinic brings experienced advisors and practical resources together so business owners can get the guidance they need to move forward.”
Group sessions are expected to include General Business Law with UW-Madison’s Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic, Business Planning 101, Financial Records, Statements and Strategy, AI for Your Business, LLC Formation Lab, Food Finance Institute and Cottage Industry 101, Optimizing Your Business Marketing Strategy, Business Taxes with the Department of Revenue and Entrepreneurial Resources in your Local Library.

“Whether you’re curious about where to start, or you’re ready to make a leap, our experts are here to offer trusted insights and industry-specific advice, free of charge,” Roughen-Schmidt said.
