KENOSHA, Wis. — More than 1,500 classic cars are expected to fill downtown Kenosha on Saturday, Sept. 5, for the 22nd annual Kenosha Classic Cruise-in, prompting street closures, temporary one-way traffic patterns and parking restrictions throughout the downtown area.
The free car show, sponsored by Kenosha Classic Street Machines and the City of Kenosha, will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Street closures will begin at 6 a.m. as participants arrive and begin setting up.
Beginning at 6 a.m., traffic on 56th Street will be directed one way eastbound beginning at Third Avenue and continuing counter-clockwise around Calabria Way. Traffic on 54th Street will be westbound only from Calabria Way to Sixth Avenue.
Temporary no-parking signs will also be posted along portions of the route to accommodate the temporary one-way traffic pattern.
The City of Kenosha is advising people visiting the Kenosha Public Museum, Civil War Museum or Southport Marina to approach those destinations from the south. The easiest route is expected to be northbound Third Avenue to 56th Street, which will help motorists avoid the closures.
People attending the Cruise-in can also park in one of downtown Kenosha’s free public parking lots or in the free public parking garage on Eighth Avenue east of the post office.
Streetcar service will be free from 10:35 a.m. until 6:35 p.m. Saturday, giving visitors another option for reaching the downtown festivities without navigating the event traffic.
