The mother of a 10-year-old fifth grader at Nash Elementary school is very upset at KUSD leadership and only came to KCE to tell her story after weeks of KUSD “dragging their feet.” A 12-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy have both been investigated by Kenosha Police and one count of Second Degree Sexual assault has been referred to the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office for both boys for prosecution. KCE is told that charges are expected in the coming days. The incident allegedly occurred on October 17, 2024.

The victim, “Mikayla,” texted her mother from the school bus on the way home from NASH elementary School, telling her mother that she was “sexually assaulted by two kids.” Mikayla’s mother called police and within five minutes a Kenosha Police Officer took the report and forwarded it to Kenosha Police’s sensitive crimes division. A Kenosha police detective investigated. The 10-year-old suspect, “Jesse” told police he had a “bad urge to touch Mikayla.” His 12-year old friend, “Damion” was with him. Damion told police that Jesse fondled Mikayla’s breasts for “about 10 seconds.” Damion was alleged to have caressed Mikayla’s butt and vagina. Jesse told police that “[Damion] wasn’t going to stop.” One of Mikayla’s best friends intervened and grabbed Jesse and body-slammed him to the ground. Mikayla was seen by her friend in the fetal position. There were many witnesses to the disturbance, and at least two witnesses to the alleged sexual assault.

Damion has already been on KUSD’s radar. On September 13, 2024, it was reported that Damion threatened to shoot up the school. A teacher came forward with the allegation and KPD investigated. There is a set criteria that KPD uses to check for the seriousness of threats and it was determined Damion had no access to weapons. An informational report was written as to document the threat.

(File Photo by Kevin Mathewson, Kenosha County Eye)

Bill Haithcock, who makes more than $177,000, is KUSD’s Chief of School Leadership. He was tasked to investigate the incident as a title IX complaint. Mikayla mother told KCE that on her daughter’s paperwork, almost all of the information was wrong. Haithcock used the sexual harassment form and not the sexual assault form. He used the wrong prefix for the mother, spelled her first name incorrectly and wrote the wrong last name. Mikayla’s name was written incorrectly and Haithcock inaccurately wrote that Mikayla had a IEP plan; she doesn’t. He told the mother that he “used the wrong form” and asked for the paperwork back.

Haithcock told Mikayla’s mother “I can’t deny these kids an education, so they will stay at school.” Mikayla has now been too terrified to attend school since October 21, 2024. Haithcock won’t remove the suspects from the school. He did offer some “supportive measures” that Mikayla’s mother said aren’t even remotely supportive.

Paid Advertisement

For example: Haitcock offered assigned seats on the bus without knowing that assigned seats were in place at the time of the alleged sexual assaults. He offered supervised lunch and recess, and Mikayla’s mother thought “Aren’t fifth graders supposed to be supervised anyway?” The fourth measure was to move Damion out of Mikayla’s homeroom. He is still in the same homeroom, according to Mikayla’s mother.

For the title IX complaint, Mikayla’s mother was just contacted today to be interviewed. The KUSD employee told her that she had the wrong number and instead, repeatedly called distant family members by mistake.

Mikayla was very excited to start Drama Club this year but is missing it because she can’t go to school. “Kenosha Police and Principal Basley handled this incident very well. KPD has given us access to many resources,” said Mikayla’s mother. ” Unfortunately KUSD is dragging their feet and my daughter is being denied access to education.”

Tanya Ruder – Chief Communications Officer, KUSD
(File Photo by Kevin Mathewson, Kenosha County Eye)

KCE reached out to KUSD and their Chief Communications Officer, Tanya Ruder told us in a statement:

“Student and staff safety is our top priority, and we take all reports related to these matters very seriously. In this particular case, there may have been a misunderstanding or miscommunication, but I assure you we are thoroughly investigating. This incident falls under Title IX, requiring a collaborative approach with law enforcement. When we refer a case to law enforcement, our investigation temporarily pauses to allow their investigation to take place. Once they conclude, they share their findings, and we proceed to finalize our investigation.

Title IX has specific timelines we adhere to, and our law enforcement partners are aware of these requirements, ensuring a coordinated approach. We are committed to a process that respects both legal and procedural standards and will continue to prioritize safety in all matters.”

The KPD investigation is now complete, pending further evidence and each student is facing up to 40 years in the Wisconsin Prison System if convicted as adults.

      1. If the parents are reading this article, please be sure to file a complaint with the United States department of education’s office for Civil Rights. The school has certain legal obligations under various federal laws, including title IX, and the response must be appropriate and compliant with the law. KUSD has so many complaints that can almost guarantee you that they’re not.

  1. KUSD spends more time writing fancy
press releases to deflect blame, than
they do to prevent problems to happening
    in the first place.

    25
    2
  2. As with the other kid….let’s get Damion’s first and last name out there. Anyone?

Parents too….who are they? If people want to play adult games, then win adult prizes.

    18
    6
    1. Also, if this were my daughter, I would have gone straight to Damion and the other kid’s house and straight kicked the shit out of both sets of their parents.

      30
      7
        1. Nope that’s the insult you hurled at me, the other parent who believes this world is too soft on pedo’s and rapists
I’m sure your soft ass probably wants police defunded too. PUSSY

          8
          1
    1. Exactly, and the KUSD idiot says he doesn’t have access to a weapon. Seriously? Anyone who has a pulse has access to a weapon.

      10
  3. “There is a set criteria that KPD uses to check for the seriousness of threats and it was determined Damion had no access to weapons.” – KCE

So just because he currently does not gave access to weapons they don’t take the threat seriously? It’s a terrorist threat regardless of his access to weapons. Wonder if authorities are walking a thin line cause of his race.

A terrorist threat involves threatening to commit an act of violence that would endanger others, with a reckless disregard for the harm it would cause. If you joke about having a bomb or a gun on an airplane, for example, you could be charged with making a terrorist threat.

  4. This is total BS …. KUSD STEP UP AND DO YOUR JOB !!!This is so wrong in so many ways, What incompetent people we have teaching and supervising are children when at school. Im outraged and something needs to be done , Jobs need to be taken away from so many.

    17
    2
    1. I know the family and the situation. It’s really not the teachers or the principal of Nash. They have their hands tied with the process. It’s moved to the administration at the ESC building and they are the ones that are taking their time and/or, not taking this seriously and moving it along

      4
      2
    2. *our.. first of all.

Secondly, the incident DID NOT happen AT the school and NOT under the supervision of their teachers..

Lastly, I am BEGGING you to at least TRY to understand who’s jobs, exactly, need to be taken..

      💔

  5. First of all….they are REPORTEDLY 10 and 12 years old. Unless there are other circumstances, the max punishment they will recieve are what JUVENILES get…not adults.
This could mean time in Juvi, home monitoring with an ankle bracelet or similiar. DCFS should look into the parents of these suspects. (I’m sure they already have). Many predators were once victims. Unless their crime waives them to adult court-which is rare-thet are gonna get what kids get.

Second…if it is true the kid who made the threats to shoot up the school…you need to look into what he was charged with…could be as little as DC. But when you add that to these alegations, it’s time to send the boy to juvi!

Third….is it time to put adults on the bus?

    15
  6. Mikayla, if you’re reading… get tough so that this never happens again! Learn self defense and the next time you are put in a situation like this – KICK SOME @SS! …if they could do it with nobody looking and get away with it so could you!

Unfortunately it is the only way they will truly learn!

    11
    8
    1. The schools and law enforcement should protect Mikayla. However, I agree that a self defense program (any karate, kick boxing, judo and others) would go a long way to restoring Mikayla’s sense of wholeness and confidence which lead to reducing the feelings of victimhood and helplessness. Remember when seconds count, help is always minutes away. So it’s best to be able to help yourself.

  7. You don’t have to deny them an education, just remove their hands from their bodies. That way we don’t have to worry about them touching someone or shooting up the school.

This shit’s never going to stop unless we get tough on them. Put your bleeding heart in the backseat.

    15
    1
  8. KUSD needs to be dismantled from the top down and rebuilt. Every single person who knew about this and did nothing to protect this little girls needs to be put in prison! Shame on them all. NO MORE KUSD. NO MORE stupid ass referendums

    18
    1
    1. No one wants to be bothered enough to go to a School Board meeting let alone “dismantle the whole thing”. Pretty sad

  9. Goverment schools. Yes goverment. Becaude They are all.funded and listen to the govt. Go to a private school and make kusd pay for it thru a lawsuit. A lot of private schools have scholarships also better educators. St. Joe’s and others are a safe place to learn as far as I know.

    6
    5
    1. Or just move to Florida, DeSantis allows school of choice. Each student has a set dollar amount associated with them to go public schools. If for example, it cost the state $5,000 a year to attend public schools, but you want your child to attend private school. You can use the $5k the state pays and use that towards a private school and only pay the difference. Shit will never change so long as fuck face Evers is running that state.

      8
      6
      1. DeSantis’ FL program is great, but WI also currently has school choice. Someone already mentioned St. Joes; also Kenosha Christian Academy. This behavior would never be tolerated

        2
        5
        1. Eh this happens at St Joes as well trust me it’s not good over there at all… mommies and daddies are able to cover it up better with the help of the disgusting staff and principals!

  10. Why are these boys still in school period? It is so disturbing to think of this next generation. I mean 10 & 12 sexually assaulting a girl on the bus!! Kuddos to this girls friend who body slammed the kid!

    18
    1
    1. I guess during the Title IX process, “nothing can happen to them.” Meaning they can’t be expelled etc. until a decision is made.

Meanwhile, the parents are homeschooling with the help of the girl’s teacher

    1. He’s paid 177 k a year , plus Cadillac benefits, and he can’t even fill out a form ? He is an excellent shot with a water bottle though. What are we doing , people ?

      13
  11. Let’s go back to institutionalizing kids! Why were there fewer problems when every kid wasn’t behavioral SPED and mainstreamed?

  12. So my son went to Nash and was suspended as a 5 year old for walking around in the bathroom with his pants down. He thought it was funny as most 5 year old boys think bathroom humor is hilarious. He touched no one and yet He was treated like a sexual predator for the rest of the school year. Not allowed to use the bathroom with anyone else and therefore could only use the bathroom when the teacher had time to take him. Many accidents were almost had that year.

Now these boys actually touched and assaulted someone and are plenty old enough to know better and they are still in school?? I call bullsh!t!!!

    11
    1
    1. Well most parents don’t want their kids exposed to a kid walking around exposing himself so it’s understandable he couldn’t go alone

  13. Why was is this just now surfacing? Why was this not reported to the parent(s) of the impacted school? This is ASSAULT! This is NOT OK! WHY are they still in the school? I found out today that one of the boys is in my child’s class and had I known this, I would have (and will be doing so on Monday) been filing a complain with the KUSD Administration! These boys should have, at a minimum, been suspended until the investigation was over.

Haithcock told Mikayla’s mother “I can’t deny these kids an education, so they will stay at school.” But it is OK for her to be denied an education for the last month? This poor child!

    1. What did he mean by ‘these kids’? Be straight, poor black kids being raised by a single mother who have 6 siblings all from different dads living off the government and the hard working Americans that pay taxes.

      Trump 2024, fix this bullshit!

      4
      6
  14. We need to come together and vote all these liberals off of the KUSD School Board. Until the liberals are removed from their seats on the school board, these things are going to continue to happen and people will not be held accountable for wrong doings.

    8
    3
    1. Feel free to get involved at the Kenosha Republican Party. We are looking for volunteers. We must get rud of the liberal school board.

      6
      2
  15. I am the grandmother to Mikayla, here to thank the ones on here for your positive comments. The first people that should be accountable for this is the bus company! Signed seats? This wouldn’t have happened if the 2 boys were in there seats. Not to mention the driver was told by another child what was happening and the driver stopped the bus to yell and tell everyone to sit down. Not to investigate on what she was told! I called the bus company to set up a meeting, only to receive a voicemail that I needed to contact the school since I’m not a guardian and only an emergency contact. I didn’t know first student was run by the school itself?

    10
  16. Children have the right to get to school safely and home safely. If that means the boys sit supervised daily and not out side unless they have an escort. They must be transported to and from school another way of

    1. We need to go back to the “special bus” and “special classroom” for the types that are a danger or a distraction to the other kids. Forcing the “special” kids into the mainstream is an excuse to employ gaggles of $90K+ per year bureaucrats to create IEPs and hide behind IX and spew woke speak horseshit, unable to (at the very least) complete their own “mandated” forms, read student records or communicate in a professional manner. More parents need to raise hell. Continue the reporting and get a media drumbeat going. Email the admin, the board members and copy in Brian Stiel or that putz Wirch.

  17. Well no one here has the balls to put names to these shitheads so they will continue to go on and commit crime without anyone knowing.

Guess I don’t care anymore either, then.

  18. I’m fucken pissed! These 2 boys NEED to be removed from that school & sent to Hillcrest or their parents home school them!!!! How dare they keep these boys at Nash & that girl has to face her accusers every day….bullshit! This is totally unacceptable! If it were me they would have a fight they never had before! GET THOSE BOYS OUT OF NASH!!!!

    1. Something is wrong with that school and board. This child was assaulted for riding a school bus!!! Those boys should be in juvenile detention until this mess is straighted out. Just because he had an urge to touch her, does not give him the right to invade her privately. Lucky for you that it was not my grandchild…. I’d own the school .Buses are run by the school and children should feel safe there. What is wrong with these. People???? This child has been traumatized for life

  19. This is why KUSD needs referendum $$. All the wasted dollars on staff and resources for kids that will never try, and don’t care to.

KEVIN- please request from kusd and post how much $ is spent towards staff for these IEPs annually.

Also post how much is spent district wide on ELL- (English language learners) program.

Cut that down, no referendum needed. Thyre in the tens of millions

  20. Someone needs to take a closer look at the school bus company.

    It happened on their watch.

Wonder why KUSD has had the same school bus company and has never changed vendors?

The answers are their look closely.

    1. I’m sure they are under contract. You know if your sign a contract once done it’s just a piece of paper. They don’t care anymore

  21. I’m sick to my stomach.
If this shit would have happened when I went to school, the 2 little pervs would have been immediately expelled. I don’t care if it happened on the bus or not.
    It’s always something with KUSD.
For “Mikayla” stay strong and know people are on your side. Glad your friend was there. He’s a hero in my book!

  22. How can someone be so dismissive as to not even listen as he is taking a report for a grave offense. He makes 177.000.00 a year and can’t spell, listen or find the correct form. Incompetent!! He needs to be fired!! ASAP!!!

Prayers to the family in getting through this nightmare!!!

  23. My son was sexually assaulted 2yrs ago by another student at Grewenow and they just pushed it under the rug no matter what I said or did they wouldn’t even move the child out of the classroom for months with mutiple reports from students and me calling police did nothing and Kusd didn’t elevate at all KUSD doesn’t care about the kids saftey like they lie and say they do
