WHEATLAND, Wis. — A 17-year-old Wheatland teen is facing a felony battery charge after allegedly throwing a stove grate at another teen during a drunken altercation Tuesday night, causing a head injury that required staples.

Mikel Robers was charged Wednesday with substantial battery and disorderly conduct. Kenosha County prosecutors say Robers intentionally caused bodily harm to a 16-year-old male friend during a dispute at a mobile home in the Town of Wheatland.
According to the criminal complaint, Robers became enraged after finding the boy sleeping in his bed. Witnesses told sheriff’s deputies that Robers yelled at him, threw punches, and eventually hurled a stove grate at his head as he tried to walk away. The boy suffered a two-inch laceration that required five staples at Froedtert South Hospital.
Both Robers and the alleged victim appeared intoxicated during the incident, with deputies noting slurred speech and the smell of alcohol. A third teen at the scene registered a .275 blood alcohol level and was cited for underage drinking.
Deputies arrived to find blood in the home, holes in the bedroom wall, and empty alcohol bottles littering the floor. Robers, who was holding a beer when approached by law enforcement, was detained after allegedly yelling and disrupting the scene.
Robers told deputies he acted in self-defense and initially said he did not want to press charges but later changed his mind. He admitted to throwing the grill grate, claiming it was in response to being punched in the face.
In court Wednesday, the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office requested a $500 cash bail, which was ordered by Court Commissioner William Michel II. Robers is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on July 29.
