PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. – A 43-year-old Kenosha man is facing felony and misdemeanor theft charges after allegedly stealing more than $1,700 in merchandise from the Target store where he worked, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday.

(Kenosha County Sheriff)
Patrick J. Michaelis is accused of committing two separate thefts in July while employed at the Pleasant Prairie Target. On July 16, he allegedly concealed $109.95 in clothing and electronics in a Target bag and left the store without paying. Four days later, he was observed under surveillance removing a Star Wars T-shirt, an Apple iPad Pro, and an Apple Magic Keyboard—items valued at $1,662—and placing them in his vehicle before reentering the store.
Loss prevention staff detained Michaelis and turned the matter over to Pleasant Prairie police. According to the complaint, Michaelis admitted to both thefts, stating he was experiencing financial hardship and “acted out of greed.” Officers recovered the stolen merchandise from his vehicle and returned it to the store.
Michaelis is charged with one count of felony retail theft and one count of misdemeanor retail theft, both as a repeater due to a prior felony conviction for narcotics possession in 2021.
At his initial appearance Wednesday, District Attorney Xavier Solis requested $250 cash bail, which was ordered. Michaelis is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on August 7.

Feeding a family, or an addiction?
He’s a fucking lifetime loser. He robbed the KFC he worked at in the 90s. He was probably trying to imitate his deceased friend and father of Kate Truedells oldest kid, Ed Janes who with KPD dispatcher still 10s of 1000s of dollar from their place of employment; the leather shoppe at great America.
Junkie behavior
