KENOSHA — A 32-year-old Illinois man is facing 50 felony charges in Kenosha County related to an alleged credit card skimming operation that targeted victims across Wisconsin.
Evgheni Eremeiv, of Woodridge, Illinois, is accused of using stolen debit card information to make unauthorized withdrawals and purchases at multiple locations in Kenosha County and elsewhere in the state, according to a criminal complaint filed March 21.
The charges include 10 counts of unauthorized use of personal identifying information and 40 counts of financial transaction card forgery. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
According to the complaint, investigators tied Eremeiv to fraudulent transactions made with cloned debit cards at gas stations, convenience stores and ATMs. Victims reported unauthorized purchases ranging from $80 to more than $300. Surveillance footage captured a man matching Eremeiv’s description using the cards in Kenosha and Paddock Lake, often concealing his identity with a long black coat and winter hat.
Kenosha County Court Commissioner William Michel II set Eremeiv’s bail at $75,000 during a hearing last week. Eremeiv was also ordered to surrender his passport.
Court records show Eremeiv is due back in Kenosha County Circuit Court on April 1.

If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of 240 years in prison.

He’ll get probation. Weak penalties, easy plea bargains for everyone in Kenosha, unless you’re a regular working stiff with just a little to lose. At that point they try to make an example of
You for some reason.
