BRISTOL, Wis. – More than 500 vehicles had already passed through by 10 a.m. Saturday at Kenosha County’s annual household hazardous waste collection event, held at the County Center in Bristol.
The five-hour event, which ran from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., gave residents a chance to safely dispose of items like household chemicals, old electronics and other potentially dangerous materials. Organized in partnership with Waste Management, the event also featured a diaper drive to support foster families served by the nonprofit 1HOPE.
County Executive Samantha Kerkman was among those volunteering on-site, helping to direct traffic and assist residents as cars streamed in throughout the morning.
While the County Center event is held just once per year, county officials remind residents that those who live in the city of Kenosha and village of Pleasant Prairie have access to year-round hazardous waste disposal programs.
More information about proper disposal options and upcoming events can be found at kenoshacounty.org/710/Household-Hazardous-Waste-Collection.

I was there just before noon. Took over 45 minutes to get through. As I left I estimated enough cars still in line as far back as I was to go long past the 1 pm scheduled end time.
Gee, you learn sometime new every day. I have always just thrown my dirty and soiled baby diapers in the trash. I did not realize they were hazardous waste. Now that I know, I will hold onto them until next year’s hazardous waste collection and diaper drive event.
Lol…best comment!
Why are these things always held way out in the county when most of the population lives east of Green Bay road. I pay county taxes just like anyone else does. Samantha I am a county taxpayer also just because I live east of Green Bay road doesn’t mean you ignore me. Can you at least hold one event East of Green Bay road. Some of us that are elderly have a tough time driving out all the way out there. I noticed that you ignore us.
You’re absolutely right there should be East of Green Bay road. Ms. Kerman help us. Us east of Green Bay road pay county taxes the person that wrote ahead of me is absolutely right
Lmao, is your diaper full or do you need a Snickers?

All the people ?
Get in your car and drive.
Barely 12 miles from the lakefront.
8 miles from Green Bay road.
And the same 12 miles from the west county line near Slades Corners.
Seems pretty centrally located to me !!
Elderly ? If you have a license then you should be able to drive those 12 miles. Or have a family member do it for you. Or a neighbor.
Don’t give me this “Elderly” sad story.
If you can’t drive 12 miles then should you drive at all ??
Hazardous waste and diapers? Was Joe Biden there?
He was right next to Trump
They held a diaper drive. I got there about 1030 was out in 45 min. My one comment: if you have electronics only, they move those cars a little differently. I had one charging pack along with many hazardous materials, so the wait was longer. I had to visit two spots. For hazardous materials only, the line moves faster. Very well organized.
