Kenosha County, Wis. — A new community-driven initiative is bringing real-time emergency and law enforcement updates to the residents of Kenosha County. Steve Maurer, a Somers resident, has officially launched “Scanner Watch of Kenosha County,” a Facebook page designed to keep locals informed about police, fire, sheriff, and EMS calls throughout the region.

The goal of the page is simple: to provide transparency for residents who are curious about the sirens and heavy police presence they may notice in their neighborhoods. By posting updates on calls as they come in, Maurer and his team aim to give people a better understanding of what’s happening in their community — without the wait.

“People don’t always know what’s going on when they hear sirens or see a large police presence. Our page aims to fill that information gap,” Maurer explained. “And if we miss something, we’re always open to feedback. If you message us, we’ll go back and get you the details.”

Patient privacy is a top priority for Maurer, especially when it comes to EMS calls, and he pledges to use discretion during police and sheriff tactical situations. The approach is intended to balance transparency with respect for individual privacy and safety.

Maurer’s commitment to community service is also evident in the way he plans to give back. “We want to make a difference. That’s why I’m going to donate a portion of what we raise to local causes, such as the law enforcement K9 Units, Shop With a Cop/Deputy, and the Firefighters Care charity,” he said.

The page’s debut night was a busy one, according to Maurer. “There was a high-speed chase that started in Milwaukee County and ended in western Kenosha County. More than a half-dozen agencies were involved, and five of the seven suspects were taken into custody,” Maurer reported. “Two remained at large, last we heard.”

While the page is free for the first month, Maurer plans to introduce a subscription model after that. “We’ll charge $2.99 a month, which is about $2 less than our competitors. This allows us to keep a small staff active almost 24/7, ensuring the page stays updated,” Maurer explained. Subscribers will also be able to request details on missed calls, which Maurer and his team will add at their request.

In line with his desire for neutrality, Maurer emphasized that the page will avoid inserting opinions or speculation into the posts. “Our focus is on the facts. We won’t be adding any commentary, just the details of each call as they come in,” he said.

Maurer invites all Kenosha County residents to check out the page and consider giving the page a free “follow.” “If you like what we do, please consider supporting us down the line when we begin to convert to a subscriber model, so we can continue providing this service. It’s all about keeping the community informed and safe.”

    1. Just tell them to do their job, and quit gossiping on their page, and they’ll block you, like they did to myself, after taking my money. JERK!
I filled a complaint and still haven’t received my money back.
I was able to cancel my subscription on my own through FB subscriptions, FYI.

      1. Never seen such ridiculous, childish crap as seen from them. Between the scanner page, the kenosha eyeball page and some of their own social media accounts, they are the most childish adults around. They cannot stop gossiping, bullying or acting like they have nothing better to do in life then go after Kevin. They really need to get over themselves and get a life. It’s pretty pathetic looking at how crazy they behave, while trying to say someone else has problems. They are pretty disturbed individuals along with their followers sharing their garbage.

  3. Kevin, not sure if you are aware but the post the other scanner page did regarding choral fest got SEVERAL comments they didn’t like. I watched them delete them in real time. They also falsely reported on the incident at Central regarding the boy in girls locker room. They said it never happened and parents of kids effected challenged them. They deleted and blocked people and eventually had to remove post. So awesome to see an alternative.

    1. Competition gets you better products and services. Once this new page takes hold the other will either change or go away.
Because the existing one has so much baggage and controversy it most likely will fold if it needs the money to survive. But if it’s just there for the “enjoyment” of the owners it may survive regardless of the competition.
Maybe even get better. But probably not

  4. The Pyro scanner page got mad and started deleting posts that called them out for the video of concert at Indian Trail. They said that people were throwing punches which was a lie and video was a nothing burger.

    1. Well, it look like you still pay a little, but that’s just for the upkeep of people to make the info available in real time.

      1. The good scanners cost some real coin, so if he needs to charge to recoup that, I’ll pay. He’s also giving his time to listen to it & post, which deserves payment, as well.

Overall, this is a value-added service which I do not mind paying for. I’m grateful that it’s no longer a monopoly!

        1. I couldn’t agree more!! I’m happy to pay $5.00 a month, which is what I was paying the arsonist (which I didn’t know when I subscribed), until he blocked me because I asked when he was going to start reporting what was from the scanner page and not investigating what his friends had rumored about at Choral Fest.

    1. I agree. If you really need to know that badly, get your own scanner. 99.9 percent of what goes on has no impact on most of us.

  9. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS AVAILABLE!!! it is important to know what’s going on in the community because it affects us all in one way or another, whether one believes that or not. It is the environment that we are subject to which needs cleaning up. It needs law enforcement, and it needs full awareness, accountability and transparency!

  10. As someone who lived by the radio calls for 28 years. Your life is so much better not listening. There is so much more to life than listening to emergency calls. Life has a much better positive impact if you just live and not live by listening to the radio calls. I for one don’t care anymore about the radio calls. 99% are a whole lot of nothing to be listening and a waste of time. In other words, get a life or better hobby than listening to every siren and turning on a scanner.
