The Racine Police Department initially uncovered possible misconduct involving Fenderson last year. To ensure transparency and avoid a conflict of interest, Racine authorities requested that the Kenosha Police conduct an independent investigation into the matter.

According to a spokesperson for the Kenosha Police Department, investigators have recommended one count of Felony Misconduct in Public Office and one count of Theft against Fenderson. However, details regarding the alleged stolen amount remain unclear.

Despite the recommendations, then-District Attorney Mike Graveley (D) declined to pursue charges at the time. The case is now pending review at the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Reminds me of the time when Racine PD hired the guy that got pulled over in a stolen car on the way to the interview… and yep, got hired…. This was in 2002. Much to Everyone’s dismay, he was fired within a year also, and during that year was driving a squad with a revoked license…. DEI didn’t work there either for some reason.
Kind of funny you write a story about this officer for recommended charges when the charges have already been declined once. I worked for RPD for a couple of years and I’m positive right now that there is a far more serious case with a different officer right now. Now if Fenderson was charged I could see the story but he is not at this time. I’m sure it’s a DC or assistant cheif at RPD pushing this to the media. RPD prolly didn’t even have to go this route but we all know about that department. Did the same thing to (Nabors and Jones). Fenderson is one of the coolest/best officers at RPD when I was there.

Thank KCE for keeping everybody up on the corruption in Racine county as well. Corrupt, racist cops and their Nazi tactics have to be prosecuted at all levels.
I’ve known Lavontay for 25 years, going back to his time at Racine St. Catherine’s High School. He’s always carried himself with respect, integrity, and a genuine heart for the community. At Parkside, his legacy goes far beyond basketball — he was recently inducted into their Hall of Fame, not just for athletics, but for his ongoing mentorship and dedication to youth in Racine. He spent years giving back, visiting local schools, and being the kind of role model we need more of.
Seeing him become a Racine Police Officer was no surprise. Serving the community has always been part of who he is. From what I’ve personally seen and heard over the years, Lavontay has consistently gone above and beyond to do right by people, no matter who it was.
This accusation is completely at odds with everything I’ve ever known about him. It doesn’t add up, and frankly, it feels like a mistake — or worse, a misunderstanding that doesn’t reflect the man or the legacy he’s built. I stand by Lavontay’s character and hope the truth comes to light quickly. Thanks for being a mentor to so many kids over the years Sir!
