PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. – Two Kenosha teenagers are facing serious adult felony charges following an April police pursuit that reached speeds over 115 miles per hour and ended in a crash near the Illinois state line. The incident began with an alleged armed carjacking in Mount Pleasant and led to multiple felony charges in Kenosha County, with additional charges expected to be filed in Racine County.

Fifteen-year-old Adam J. Alisauskas appeared in adult court Thursday afternoon after being waived out of juvenile jurisdiction. He is charged with four counts: first-degree recklessly endangering safety while armed, fleeing an officer, operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and obstructing an officer. Court Commissioner William Michel II ordered a $50,000 cash bail. Alisauskas, who remains in custody, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 2.

Seventeen-year-old Jaylen D. James, who under Wisconsin law is automatically charged as an adult, was also formally charged Thursday with the same four criminal counts. A $15,000 arrest warrant was issued after James failed to appear in court. He is believed to be in custody in another jurisdiction, though officials have not confirmed where. Both teens may also face prosecution in Racine County for the alleged carjacking that set the case in motion.

The incident began on the afternoon of April 2, when Mount Pleasant police received a report from a man who said he had been robbed at gunpoint of his vehicle, phone, and wallet by two young men. The stolen vehicle, a blue Honda Pilot, was later spotted by Pleasant Prairie police near the 9700 block of Sheridan Road.

When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled. According to the criminal complaints, Alisauskas was driving the Honda while James rode in the front passenger seat. Squad car dash cam video and officer reports state that the teens accelerated to 117 mph while weaving through traffic, narrowly missing multiple vehicles and even pedestrians along the way.

At one point, the fleeing vehicle drove into a ditch to avoid police-deployed spike strips. Officers from multiple agencies, including the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and police departments in Zion and Winthrop Harbor, assisted in the pursuit. Eventually, the vehicle lost control near Sheridan Road and the state line, skidding off the road, striking a utility pole, and crashing into a tree.

Both teens attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended by Pleasant Prairie officers. The Honda sustained heavy damage, airbags deployed, and utility crews were called to repair downed power lines. Officers later recovered two firearms from inside the wrecked SUV. The car’s registered owner confirmed that neither teen had permission to drive the vehicle.

Mount Pleasant police later confirmed that the stolen vehicle matched the description from the earlier armed robbery. According to their reports, both suspects involved in the carjacking were armed with handguns. The victim, who remains unnamed in court records, reported being threatened and having his phone and wallet stolen in addition to the vehicle.

Both Alisauskas and James face over two decades in prison if convicted on all current charges. The first-degree recklessly endangering safety charge alone carries a potential sentence of 12 years and six months. The addition of the dangerous weapon enhancer increases possible prison time even further for Alisauskas.

Officials expect further criminal proceedings in Racine County where the initial carjacking took place, potentially compounding the charges already filed in Kenosha. Both teens remain under investigation by law enforcement agencies across both counties.
