KENOSHA, Wis. — A 41-year-old Kenosha man was in court Thursday on charges of battery and disorderly conduct after allegedly striking his wife with a glass beer bottle and punching her several times during a domestic dispute.
Jose L. Cervantes was charged with one count of battery and one count of disorderly conduct, both with domestic abuse assessments attached. According to the criminal complaint, police responded to a trouble call at Cervantes’ home on the 2500 block of 71st Street on July 16. A woman told responding officers that Cervantes, her husband, had pulled her out of bed by her legs and began yelling about a child’s haircut.
She said Cervantes threatened to throw a beer bottle at her if she didn’t “tell the truth,” and ultimately did throw the bottle, hitting her in the face. She described repeated punches to her legs and waist area, estimating he hit her about 10 times before stopping when their daughter entered the room.
Officers reported visible injuries, including a swollen cheek with an abrasion and a bruised knee. The responding officer observed beer stains on the bed and several empty glass bottles around the bedroom.
Cervantes denied the incident was physical but admitted the two had argued. Officers noted signs of intoxication, including glassy eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol.
The court commissioner dismissed sentence enhancers Thursday, and the case will now proceed as two misdemeanors. Cervantes is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing on September 12.

What a POS.
misdemeanors? For nearly killing his wife? This guy belongs in prison for decades and whomever the court commissioner is, is a loser! Will he be held responsible if this monsters murders his wife and kids?
