Action-Oriented Leader Sandy Wiedmeyer Announces Run for State Senate in 11th District

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. — Sandy Wiedmeyer, a Bristol Republican and longtime community leader, announced Friday that she is running for the Wisconsin State Senate in the 11th District, which spans parts of Kenosha, Racine, Walworth, and Rock counties.

Wiedmeyer said her upbringing on her family’s farm shaped her strong work ethic and commitment to service. She described herself as a “real conservative fighter” ready to bring energy and determination to Madison as debates continue over the direction of Wisconsin’s future.

“I’m incredibly proud of our community,” Wiedmeyer said in her announcement. “I’m all in on taking my service to the next level and giving back to the people of the 11th District.”

Wiedmeyer has spent nearly two decades working as an operations superintendent at the RecPlex in Kenosha County. She said her time there exposed her to the everyday challenges faced by residents from all backgrounds and strengthened her desire to engage in public service. Her children attended local public schools before going on to University of Wisconsin campuses, experiences she described as positive and formative for her family. She credits the Village of Bristol with providing a supportive environment to raise her children.

Before her work at the RecPlex, Wiedmeyer served as a middle school science teacher, an experience she said solidified her commitment to academic excellence. She argues that raising standards — not lowering them — is essential for students and communities to succeed.

In her announcement, Wiedmeyer criticized what she described as repeated reductions in academic expectations by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, pointing to statistics showing that fewer than one-third of Wisconsin students read or perform math at grade level. She called the trend unacceptable for students and taxpayers alike and said conservative reforms in education are urgently needed.

Wiedmeyer has also served as chair of the Republican Party of Kenosha County since 2022. Under her leadership, she said, the county shifted politically in recent election cycles. She noted that President Donald Trump received the highest vote share for a Republican presidential candidate in Kenosha County since 1972, and she was selected by her peers to serve as a delegate to the Republican National Convention.

Throughout her time in party leadership, Wiedmeyer said she has supported conservative candidates at every level of government, organized grassroots initiatives, and advocated for policies focused on family stability, public safety, and fiscal responsibility.

Addressing economic concerns, Wiedmeyer pointed to rising property taxes, increasing utility bills, and escalating health care costs as top issues facing residents. She also highlighted the growing age of first-time homebuyers — now around 40 — as evidence that the American Dream is slipping further out of reach for young families.

“I hear the concerns of our friends and neighbors,” Wiedmeyer said. “I’m determined to be part of the solution. I’m a common-sense problem solver who knows how to get things done.”

    1. So. . .

She’s a teacher who supports pedophiles: Trump!

She brought us Kerkman, Zoerner, and Solis.

      Do we really want her?

      1. lol calm down, you’ll be okay. Trump is your president and you’re benefiting but hate to admit it 🤣

        28
        7
        1. How do you think I am benefiting? My nephew is on a ship in the Middle East in A war that Trump promised us he would never start. His could be one of the many American military that will be killed because Trump wants to get us to stop thinking that he is a sick pedophile.

I am better off for this?

          8
          24
          1. Your nephew voluntarily joined the military, he knew, or should have known what that means. It’s not day care for college aged adults!
With that said, may God bless and protect our military. 🙏🇺🇸⚔️

            27
            3
          2. But he is doing his best to end this.
Iran has been a problem for decades. Obama gave them money. Remember the pallets of money on a plane in the middle of the night ? Red lines in the sand he said there were ? Biden doing nothing during his years ?

Trump inherited this already ongoing war. He’s helping to finishing it.
And as for your nephew, he knows what he signed up for. Military service is just that, military service.
Thank him for being there but don’t disrespect his decisions by saying he shouldn’t see war.
The military today isn’t a draft like Vietnam was. The men today made a choice. And we thank them for it

            21
            2
            1. Yea, Trump considers military people as “suckers and Losers.” I am not in the military and that pisses me off. What in the Hell is wrong with you?

              2
              11
      2. I mean, Zoerner and Kerkman get big ol’ “womp-womp-womp”s. Solis— he hasn’t gotten a fair shot. Everyone bags on him every opportunity they get.

Kerkman came into a well oiled machine and f’ked it up pretty badly. It sounds like Solis inherited a big mess and isn’t getting much support in righting his ship.

Either way, though- she couldn’t find a Kerkman challenger, and it’s like… YOU HAD ONE JOB.

        1. Kerkman lost all trust in the county.Everyone is talking she never gives you an answer on anything . Poor leader . Wish someone would have run against her

          1. Her department and division heads are the same way. Everyone is afraid to give an answer because they’re employed “At Her Pleasure” and if anyone makes the wrong move, she can just show them the door.

            It’s a clusterfk.

            2

      3. That was a typical anti=Trump hateful comment, and I’d like to know what proof you have of that statement.

  1. Sandy will bring a work ethic to the Wisconsin State Senate that is unmatched. She is a strong conservative who will work to protect the citizens of the state especially the children. I consider Sandy a friend and all voters of the 11th senate district should come out and vote for her in August.

    1. Highly doubtful another “activist female”, likely another semi or outright AWFUL (Affluent White Female Urban Liberal…Rep or Dem) loud mouth grandstander copy will solve anything. Prepare for disappointment. Women are 98% genetically reactive/emotive, not logical thinkers, and without the capacity to operate at the higher logical levels of civil and business administration. For the 2% of women that are VERY capable (greater than most men, e.g., Margaret Thatcher, fictional Cersi Lannester), they are hated by the 98% of their sisters and feared by the 98%’s beta-male castrate Walter Mitty submissives that gang up to suppress and nullify them in mobocracy politics that operate like a band of high school hot mean girls and their empty pretty-boy superficial followers.

      3

        1. I eat plenty of meat and get plenty of sleep. Testosterone is exactly age appropriate. Thank you for asinine recommendations. They provided a good laugh.

  2. Are we talking traditional conservative- limited government infringement on personal freedoms and rights, reduced budgets that apply to foundational community services, a protection on institutions by having school boards-city governments-county governments have strong autonomy to operate how they want? If so, I’m interested.

If you mean anti-woke, which means asleep, I’m not interested in more culture wars.

    13
    6
    1. … it really comes down to who might also throw their hat in.

She definitely is worthy. Definitely understands the position. Let’s just see if someone else can or will give her a run.

Thank you Sandy for stepping up !!
      Let’s hope support follows

      16
      8
    2. Anti-Woke in ANY form is Conservative progress and is WIDE-AWAKE & WORKING…logically.
Hot Flash & plus a buck for you to go buy a screaming in your eyes-wide-shut face CLUE:
47% of the US population votes auto-D, believes the US Govt has an obligation to take care of them as it blows warm streaming sunshine up their asses as they refuse to accept any personal responsibility for personal development and improvement.
However, the need for Conservative standard rhetorical bromide claptrap about “limited govt”, fiscal responsibility and “personal freedom”, while certainly very nice, is simultaneously very naive in an environment seeping with duplicity, irresponsibility and normalized absurdity. If the lady has proven to be a competent conservative agent, she should be fully supported.

      6
      6
      1. Wow.

You’ve decided that anti woke is good enough. At the state legislative level, I’m more interested in budgets and individual rights. But you do you.

And you’ve decided the term conservative can mean many different things, but it is always good no matter what it means. Again, you get to do you.

And you call me naive, Ass Clown?

        3
        6
        1. Your values prioritizing budgets and “personal freedom” as a legislator are exactly on target as a Classic Conservative. Your error is dismissiveness toward the “anti-Woke” values spectrum, which includes your Classic “budgets & personal freedom” version – with the qualification that personal freedom must include personal responsibility and good judgment that are lacking to absent in a critical mass of the Auto-D 47%. Limited govt is not possible with 47% of irresponsibles, grifting getovers, and outright wolves dressed as compasionate sheep.
Again, if the Republican anti-Woke lady candidate is the best that the system can produce currently, despite her personal flaws (for which D’s are media rationalized away), voting for her is logical in the amount of collective stupidity and duplicity in Kenosha County’s current elected officialdom.

          1. Hating Trump has nothing to do with being progressive or classically conservative. Plenty of people from both schools of thought, who can’t agree about anything except this, find his dishonesty, personal gloating, and attack style as reprehensible.

Please note I didn’t mention policy there. Whether I like his policies or hate them, I wouldn’t want to be around him or let him teach my kids how to act or treat people.

And if you would, you’re wrong. So, so wrong.

    3. I call the people who brand themselves “conservative” today CINOs — conservatives in name only.

True conservatives have principles. And one is to stand up for the rights of people we can’t stomach.

        1. That all these villages need “cleaning up”.
But these village board jobs are nothing other than scratching each other’s backs.

Not many are run professionally. Just 5 locals who “think” they know what they’re doing. Hardly any of them do.
And those that do know how to run government don’t want the mud spewed on them. So we always get second or third tier candidates. Salem is and always has been that

  3. Sandy has worked in a position that sounds like management at RecPlex for over 20 years, which is part of the corrupt Village of Pleasant Prairie.

    Either she is:
    1. Part of the corruption at RecPlex.
    2. Ignoring the corruption.
    3. Too dumb to see the corruption.

Hard pass on any Village of Pleasant Prairie employee.

    17
    1
  4. I hope she’s more honest in senate than she is as the chair of the Republican Party… who am I kidding!

    10
    3
  5. Does anyone remember who Amanda “helped” replace her solidly conservative County Supervisor seat when she left it open for her State Rep seat? Answer: another Barbie Doll who the voters rejected leading to Democratic control of our County Board…oh yes…don’t forget who was head of the RPKC at that time…your new State Senate candidate Sandy W.
No thanks…Ellen is the choice to represent our community…she’s in it for the right reasons.

    12
    4
    1. Politicians ARE diapers, not like them. In one term, 95% are pooped and pissed-up full tank…but cannot be replaced because the electorate majority are The Stupids + The Corrupt; hence the Stench.

  6. She should worry about managing Recplex considering what they charge and the fact they haven’t upgraded their weights in like 25 years.

    5
    19
    1. How do you do that ?
Did some of the weight rub off with all the years of cleaning ?
Are they used in competition so ever ounce must be verified ?
      20 years ?
Please explain how newer prettier weights help your workout ?

You should pick up boxes of rocks.

      4
      1
      1. Tell me you’ve never been to a nice gym without telling me you’ve never been to a nice gym. If I have to really explain this to you then it doesn’t really matter.

        1
        4
        1. I don’t go to gyms. Don’t work out. Don’t know a Dumb bell from a Bar bell.

But the point I would like to make is that as the director of the “largest recplex in the country” she should tout all her management skills and accomplishments in keeping this complex functional without being a burden on the taxpayers.
It seems to be just that.
But how has she done that ? What challenges has she had to overcome ?

The overall senate district is a long way from Pleasant Prairie. A lot of people haven’t a clue who she is.
Yes some circles in the Republican Party know her position in politics here but she needs to tell more. Her accomplishments in recruiting viable candidates isn’t one of them. Sam is a huge disappointment.
Not that Sam wasn’t a great choice originally, but she has failed to be what she ran on. And that needs to change.

    1. What has she accomplished as County Chairperson?

The most bagged-on politician RINO disaster is running unopposed. If she wanted to get into politics, she should have run for County Exec.

      4
      1
      1. Considering her long term involvement locally the County Exec position would have suited her perfectly.
That said it’s a lot of work.
Being in Madison is 32 other Senators proposing things and you either get on board with or you don’t. Then every once in a while you propose something that probably will go nowhere.
Amanda is doing great work ! And because of that she’s perfect where she’s at.
Down the road Amanda could move to this spot or even hire. But for now she should stay.

Sandy going for Steve’s spot is a long shot and will definitely be a gut shot when she loses. But she made that choice.
        Vote Ellen !!

        3
        1
    2. Not challenging Kerkman (and then running for this senate seat) when every intelligent, respectable citizen of Kenosha County sees what a terrible job she’s doing says a few things.
      1. She approves of the job Kerkman is doing and is just glad to see an (r) in there, even if it’s a phony lower-case r.

      2. She’s afraid to challenge a Kerkman.

      3. She does a half-ass job running her party and thinks that because she’s party chair, county republicans will automatically vote for her over Ellen, the better and more qualified (Capital C) Conservative candidate.

  7. Since Sandy, the Kenosha county party chair, has decided to run for State Senate, she should step down as chair of Kenosha gop immediately. In fact, she should have announced her resignation the same time she announced her candidacy. The role of party chair is to support and remain neutral among candidates in primaries, not to use the position while running for higher office. Holding both roles at the same time is a clear conflict of interest and undermines trust in the fairness of the party’s process. Across WI, others have done the right thing and stepped down as soon as they announced their candidacies. For example, Tyler August stepped down years ago when he first ran for assembly.
Kenosha GOP and candidates deserves the same level of integrity and fairness. She should follow that example and many others and resign as chair now!!!!!

    1. Will Martin also stepped down from the RPW Exec Board. Thats’s what people with integrity do.

      Says a lot about Sandy.
