SALEM LAKES, Wis. — A 22-year-old Trevor woman was charged Thursday with misdemeanor disorderly conduct with a domestic abuse modifier after authorities say she called 911 and claimed she had killed her father, set her house on fire and was going to kill the president of the United States. According to the criminal complaint, the call prompted Kenosha County Sheriff’s deputies to respond to a home in the Village of Salem Lakes shortly after midnight on September 3.
Kenosha County Eye has made the unusual and difficult decision not to identify the defendant in this case. The allegations are unquestionably newsworthy, but the circumstances described in the criminal complaint raise serious and obvious concerns about her mental health, and we do not believe publishing her name would meaningfully serve the public interest at this time. We do, however, believe the public should know what happened, how law enforcement responded, and how the case is being handled by the court system.
