On September 27, 2020, at about 1:40 a.m., a 25-year-old Illinois man named Deyonn J. Williams was gunned down at near the corner of 49th St and 8th Ave, just one block from the now-demolished RedZone.
Police were called and found dozens of people in the parking lot of Red Zone and chaos.
Police found WIlliams lying on the ground and bleeding to death. He was taken to the hospital but efforts to revive Williams were unsuccessful. Here is a video of the chaos during the shooting taken from Red Zone security footage.
Detective Eric Kukowski and other patrol officers and investigators poured countless hours into this case and didn’t get much cooperation from the family of the victim or anyone else. Kukowski really wants to put handcuffs on the person who murdered Williams. He’s hoping that someone will come forward with information about this case.
Detective Kukowski urges anyone who may know anything about this case to call him at 262-605-5215. He wants to give good news to Mr. William’s family. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can contact the Kenosha Area Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333.
KCE thanks Chief Patton, Deputy Chief Labatore, Inspector Sagedal, and Captain Beller for allowing KCE to meet with the detectives to get information out to the public.

I remember watching a fire truck stop by and clean the blood off the street corner with a fire hose. I’ll never forget watching the combo of blood and water being cleaned off the sidewalk. I didn’t realize they never found out who killed this young man. I’m fairly sure this young man was shot and killed while a KPD officer was driving around the block on Sheridan too. I hope this family gets the closure they deserve.
Why do we seek justice when the victims family doesn’t care. They probably know and may try to find their own justice.
It’s good a somewhat rookie detective has the case, cuz it may take his career to solve it.
