Hundreds of area residents turned out to The Kenosha History Center’s 2nd Annual “Taco Fest” Friday. The Kenosha History Center hosted the event this year at a new location – Kennedy Park, along the Lake Michigan shore. About 13 food trucks competed for votes to be named “Kenosha Taco Fest Champion”. The event was free to attend.
Kenosha Taco Fest coincided with the Kenosha History Center’s popular Friday Night Classic Car Cruise-in. A small array of classic cars, including a Delorean, were on display during the event.
The Kenosha Shriners sold beer at to raise money for their non-profit’s mission. There was entertainment on stage throughout the evening including a DJ who played “Achy Breaky Heart” in Spanish.
KCE chatted with the son of the owners of “Tacos to the Face”, Dario who is 10 years old, but tells KCE he will be 11 on July 1st. He told KCE that his face was the inspiration for the logo for the business. “My parents used my face on the side of the food truck becuase I have a large cartoon-like mouth,” Dario joked. He parents truck would later take home the silver medal for the best tacos.
Kenosha Police were on the scene engaging with the community and handing out prizes. Officer Payne wanted to try some tacos, but was a little bust “busing a move” to some Latin music. “I’ll find my way to the tacos trucks soon enough,” said Officer Payne, a four-year veteran of the department.
Five Senses Palate blogger and Venezuelan-American personal chef Sujhey Biesser gave a talk on the “History of Latinos and Farming in Wisconsin and the Evolution of Latin Food in Wisconsin” from the Wisconsin Historical Society Speakers Bureau. This was a stop on the Wisconsin History Makers Tour; learn about the Wisconsin Historical Society while enjoying tacos!

Looks like a great turnout. The downtown was once a nice and peaceful area to bring families. Now, most won’t even step foot because of the dumb fucks and bangers wanna cause issues. The 4th of July is probably going to keep the police busy down there.
What on earth are you talking about saying that Downtown is dangerous? There’s families and people down there everyday and night doing all sorts of fun activities with zero incidents. The 4th will be busy for but that’s always been the case.
And shooting every night….
Or not. Must suck being scared 24/7. You probably think thunder and fireworks are gunshots..
Carnival having huge issues tonight. Thats what he’s talking about !
You’re an idiot 😂 downtown is busy as ever, especially on the weekends.
Triggered. Buncha babies. Go ahead and bring your kids down there after 9 on a weekend. Betcha feel real safe
Why is your child out anywhere at 9 pm? Seems irresponsible.
A child after 9 is irresponsible? Lol what a clown comment.
Haha. Right. I’m sure all the kids down there for the fireworks are with irresponsible parents. Idiot comment of the day
So bringing a 12-15 year old child out past 9 is irresponsible? Wow I thought I heard all the dumbass comments before but hopefully everyone in Kenosha has their 17 and below kids Tucker in by 9. I’m sure your a great parent
In your case , signing your post as Anonymous was a good idea.
What a stupid comment. I walk with my wife all the time downtown. We also like going to the different restaurants downtown also. Its safe. The fourth will be a fun time downtown also.
You would have hated downtown in the 90s.
goddammit another cool thing I missed
I wanted to go, really enjoyed it last year, but the weather (dampness) kicked my butt!
So much fun! Our family chose different taco trucks so we could compare and they were all fantastic!!
Tacos are an American invented food so yeah, good call on a Taco event in America. We need America names for the vendors though.
You are King of the Idiots.
American food was “created” by the mix of all the different immigrants who came here long ago. We borrowed ideas and recipes from them.
Another arrogant white male who knows nothing about history.
Calm down Linda!
The origins of tacos came from Mexico. They have been americanized, like alot of foods. People tend to take the original food and put their own “touch” to it depending on their region.
As far as having American names, you do understand that America is “the melting pot” of the world. So yes, those names are American.
But thanks for being a complete meathead
Texicans are 💯 American ….. same with OG Neuvo Mexicans —- VERY patriotic—— just check out the Medal of Honor list
Didn’t have to go. Los Taquitos has the best tacos but they didn’t have a truck there.
Kenosha News reported that “thousands” attendee this event but the photos from KCE tell a different story.
