Cali McNeil (D) has been a prosecutor in Kenosha for more than a decade. She had been the Deputy District Attorney for the last three years. She is known for her soft-on-crime plea% deals and far-left policies. She was dubbed as District Attorney Mike Graveley’s heir apparent.

Xavier Solis, a republican defense attorney challenged McNeil and won handedly. Allegedly, McNeil told the Kenosha Judges privately that she has accepted a job as an Assistant District Attorney in Rock County, about a three hour commute from her Kenosha home. She refused to tell DA-Elect Solis that she is moving on. McNeil said many times during her campaign that the citizens of Kenosha were her top priority. KCE asked her today if that was ever true, or if she had a change of heart. She didn’t respond. Her notifying Solis, certainly would have helped with the planning and transition, but apparently spite took hold over integrity.

Rock County DA-Elect Jason Sanders (D)

The Current DA, David O’Leary (D), wouldn’t tell KCE why he hired a prosecutor with about a 50% conviction rate. He did tell us, however, that he has not hired McNeil. He told us he is only conducting interviews at this time. His term expires in 46 days, and his successor, Jason Sanders (D), an Assistant District Attorney for Rock County, will take over On January 6, 2025, after running unopposed.

Many of the far-left prosecutors are quickly attempting to line up jobs elsewhere. It seems, that a DA who promised to be tough on crime isn’t what they signed up for. T. Clair Binger, the prosecutor ridiculed all over the world for his handling of the Rittenhouse trial has already been denied some employment opportunities, KCE is told. He’s been trying to leave Kenosha for some time, actually. He ran unsuccessfully for DA in Racine and Municipal Judge.

The embattled prosecutor, Alexandra Smathers, was promoted at one time to Deputy District Attorney, and then demoted back to Assistant District Attorney. She is also pursuing other places to work.

There are rumors of a mass exodus of prosecutors as the DA’s office, but KCE has spoken to several that say they aren’t going anywhere. It seems that only the far-left idealists will leave. In Kenosha County, the DA’s office chooses the punishment more than 95% of the time. This is becaise the Judges all rubber-stamp deals that the prosecutors make. Judge Schroeder wasn’t that way. The prosecutors that are leaving are among those that know they have a better chance of keeping bad guys out of prison as prosecutors than defense attorneys.

  1. It will be interesting on not only how many prosecutors will be left but how many from surrounding areas will apply to work here ?

Ideally once criminals start going to jail instead of not being charged or let off with reduced sentences and crime slowly starts to go down, how many prosecutors will actually be needed ?

    Only time will tell.

  2. As someone who’s worked in Janesville and lived in Kenosha for many years, which part of Rock County is a three-hour drive from Kenosha? I suppose driving 25 mph in a 55 zone could make this a possibility.

      1. She will never work there again.

        Though that begs a question.

Why wouldn’t she join a local defense firm ?
With her “familiarity” with local judges, wouldn’t she be an asset wherever she went ?
You think she might even be recruited.

  4. Nobody likes a quitter.
If you can’t find a job closer to
    home than that, there’s definitely
    something more to the story.

It’s not like she was transferred or
    the company relocated.
    Probably just too embarrassed to
    be seen in Kenosha County.

    1. To be fair, as Deputy DA she serves at the DA’s pleasure and unlikely Xavier would retain her. She has the ability to go back to her prior status as an Assistant DA if there’s an opening and the DA is willing to hire her. There was an opening in Rock County and the DA was willing to hire her. State employment rules.

  5. The new DA in Rock County was a former criminal defense attorney. Funny that Carli’s new boss worked on behalf of criminals.

  6. No kidding!
Carl going to take his ball and go home.
We, as citizens, dodged a bullet on this one. Carl demonstrates exactly what democrats are about when they don’t win.
What a piss poor excuse of an attorney.
Glad the adult voters in Kenosha County could see this before disaster.
Good riddance to Carl and Gravely!

  7. I fear there will be mass exodus in the DA’s office. While some leaving is definitely a plus for the community. On the flip side, it is difficult to attract good talent for the office with the low pay compared to private attorneys. There is one particular ADA in that office who would be a spectacular deputy.

    1. Carli’s leaving on her own should not be a surprise. Under state rules she is eligible to return to an Assistant DA’s position if there’s one open and the new boss is willing to hire her. Doubtful Xavier would keep her and it makes the situation less awkward for him and her.

  12. The Kenosha DA’s office has been a cesspool for a long time. Five years ago I was accused, arrested, and almost convicted of DA, (later allowed to be changed to DV) by a woman I tried to date but had to end it when I could no longer ignore the red flags of lying, serial cheating, stealing, Rx med abuse, and did I mention cheating?
The police ON THE SPOT at the time of my arrest awarded my home and everything I own to that woman and allowed her to move into MY home I bought and paid for. We never even lived together and she definitely had no financial or legal claim to anything. She retaliated against me solely for having the audacity to end a toxic relationship.
I hired a local attorney who suppressed a mountain of texts, pictures, and proof I provided him with. I asked multiple times to meet with the DA’s office and was told, “They aren’t your friends.” I had naive faith in the Rule of Law and felt if I could show my proof to the DA all charges would be dropped.
It took me 30 days to get back in my home without any assistance from that lawyer. It had be robbed of almost everything of value; even irreplaceable sentimental things. Thousands of dollars in stocked up foods and medicines were gone. Even my unwritten in high school yearbook was gone. My home had been extensively damaged and my neighbors told me she had been “entertaining” a string of different men every night.
I wasn’t allowed to have friends or family check on my home during my banishment nor would the police check on it. That woman was protected by domestic abuse laws and as such was allowed to do this to me anonymously and with impunity.
I learned after it was over that I was the 4th man she’d manipulated domestic laws to do her bidding. I ran a background check on her shortly after meeting her but because her crimes were hidden within the anonymity afforded by DA laws nothing was revealed.
I also learned after it was over that the attorney I hired has several official Bar complaints on file from men he’d “represented” in identical situations where he charged huge amounts of money but didn’t perform in their best interests at all. It was all about the money and feeding $ to the courts. I also found out his sister was the lead arresting officer and he even told me he was excited to finally face her against her in a trial.
I went from a law abiding man with high respect for Rule of Law and no encounters with the police and courts; and raised my children to be the same, to a man who has zero faith in or respect for anything Justice related in this city.
And guys?…she’s still out there so watch yourselves.
