KENOSHA, Wis. – A 40-year-old Kenosha man was in court Monday after prosecutors say he punched a teenage neighbor in the head and shoved the teen’s mother during a heated confrontation outside their 20th Avenue apartments.

Ronald J. Adams is charged with felony physical abuse of a child–intentionally causing bodily harm, along with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct.
According to the criminal complaint, on Aug. 2 Kenosha police were called to the 5800 block of 20th Avenue for a report that Adams had struck his neighbor’s 15-year-old son. The boy’s mother told police Adams had been sitting on his porch yelling obscenities and threatening to shoot her. When her son stepped between them, Adams allegedly punched him in the head with a closed fist, then fought with him and shoved her into her car when she intervened.
The teen told officers Adams’ punch caused significant pain and that being taken to the ground scraped his knees and feet. Officers reported the boy had visible abrasions.
Adams initially claimed he was “jumped” by both neighbors but admitted he “might have” hit the boy while defending himself. While being taken to jail, he repeatedly told himself he was sorry for hitting the teen.
In court Monday, Adams was charged and ordered held on $7,500 cash bail. His preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 7. During the appearance, Adams repeatedly interrupted proceedings and complained about the bail amount, prompting a deputy to warn him several times to stop being disruptive.
