KENOSHA, Wis. — A busy intersection on the city’s west side will be closed for several weeks later this month as crews complete sanitary sewer improvements, forcing drivers to detour and adjust their routines.
The intersection of 75th Street and 96th Avenue is scheduled to close beginning May 18 as part of a sanitary sewer lining project along 75th Street between 99th Avenue and 94th Avenue, according to city officials.
The closure is expected to last about three weeks, during which time access between 75th Street and 96th Avenue will be fully restricted. Motorists will not be able to pass through the intersection in any direction.
City officials say 94th Avenue will remain open throughout the project and should be used as the primary alternate route for drivers needing to access 75th Street.
The work is part of ongoing infrastructure maintenance aimed at extending the life of the city’s sewer system and preventing future issues. While the project is expected to cause temporary inconvenience, officials say it is necessary to maintain reliable service.
Drivers are being urged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour signs in the area.
City officials said they appreciate the public’s patience as the work is completed.

As a resident of this neighborhood, and as a house that was affected with the sewage backup in August of 2024, its really disheartening that they are NOW fixing the problem but still claim that the sewage flooding of 20+ houses wasn’t the city’s fault, but rather just an “oopsies”. At minimal, it would be appreciated for transparency, and an apology at best.
Not in that area but same trouble.
Made a plug for the drain problem solved
