Widely circulated video seemed to show a “mystery shooter” near Kyle Rittenhouse on August 25, 2020. A muzzle flash could be seen off to the left of the video. Kenosha Police have identified that man as Racine resident Joshua J. Ziminski and arrested him, according to a criminal complaint. Ziminsky and his wife both admitted that he was, indeed the shooter that night according to the charging document. According to the Kenosha County Jail Roster, Kenosha Police recommended charging Ziminski with:
Felony 2nd Degree Reckless Engendering Safety
Disorderly Conduct
Obstructing/Resisting Officer and
Bail Jumping (He is currently on bond for Domestic Battery)
For whatever reason, Graveley only authorized the most minor of offenses to be prosecuted – disorderly conduct. The bail-jumping charge would be the easiest to prove. He is currently out on a $500 cash bond in Racine for Domestic Battery.
“This is DA Graveley once again playing politics with charging decisions” one Kenosha man told KCE under the promise of anonymity.
As one could expect, Ziminski has a long list of arrests. According to his 31-page rap-sheet shared with KCE obtained through the Wisconsin Department of Justice, he has arrests including:
Reckless Endangering Safety, Robbery-Use of Force, Bail Jumping, Violate Restraining Order, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Switchblade, Domestic Battery, Hit and run, and much more.
Is DA Graveley letting his personal political views influence his charging decisions?
