The County Board overwhelmingly voted to order the dangerous “No Guns Allowed” signs to be removed. The final vote was 14-7 to remove the signs. Most argue that theses signs put the public at risk.
Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman told the Kenosha News “I wanted it to be just a seamless transition where folks didn’t even realize it happened.”
While citizens can carry firearms in most county buildings now, there are still some buildings that are very much “off limits” including:
Public Safety Building (Including Kenosha Police and Kenosha Sheriff)
Kenosha County Detention Center
Pre-trial Intake Building, (Which is an extension of the Court House)
County employees have a new policy manual that will allow them to carry at work.
