Kenosha School District Treats Religion, Political Stances Differently: Opinion

Does KUSD treat all students the same? How about all political groups? How about all religions? KCE doesn’t think so. We will tell you why.

Bradford High School In Kenosha
(File Photo by Kevin Mathewson, Kenosha County Eye)

A 17-year-old student at Bradford High School named Jon Stone started a student group called “Conservative High Schoolers.” A teacher, Grant Jacobs, leads the group as its “advisor”. A look at Jacobs’ social media shows that he is a Trump voter and all-around republican. A look at Stone’s social media show a pro-israel stance. Jacobs and the kids in the class talk about limited government, the second amendment and all things red. Jacobs and Stone, both Christians, decided they wanted to pray the rosary during school time. They are both of the Catholic denomination of Christianity and love to pray the rosary every day. They both actually believe God mandates it. So Jacobs met with the Principal about creating a prayer room at the High School. The Principal, wanting to keep his job and not wanting to make such a big decision, contacted the bosses at the Kenosha Unified School District. KUSD gave the green light. There is now a prayer room at Bradford High School. It has a crucifix, the universal symbol for Christians on the wall. Don’t worry, taxpayers, because the crucifix was donated. But don’t worry people of other religions, you can use the room too. You can pray, meditate or anything else as Stone is praying his rosary on a kneeler next to the crucifix depicting his savior, Jesus Christ.

Reading the above paragraph, did you start to think it was far-fetched for such a liberal school district? Did you not believe your eyes? That’s because the entire first paragraph of this opinion piece is B.S. It never happened – those people don’t exist. None of that stuff is true. What comes next, is the opposite of the first paragraph, and is 100% true according to a KUSD spokesperson.

Indian Trail & Academy High School In Kenosha
(File Photo by Kevin Mathewson, Kenosha County Eye)

A 17-year-old student at Indian Trail School named Dalia Musaitef started a student group called “Women’s Rights and Empowerment.” A teacher, Katie Phillips, leads the group as its “advisor”. A look at Phillips’ social media shows that she is a Biden voter and all-around democrat. She makes fun of Melania Trump and posts about how much she misses President Obama. She is pro LGBTQ+IA. A look at Musaitef’s social media show a pro-palestine stance. Phillips and the girls in the class talk about LGBT issues, liberal policies, and all things blue. Musaitef and Phillips decided they wanted a space where Musaitef could pray to Allah. Phillips met with the Principal about creating a prayer room at the High School. The Principal, wanting to keep his job and not wanting to make such a big decision, contacted the bosses at the Kenosha Unified School District. KUSD gave the green light. There is now a Muslim prayer room at Indian Trail School. It has a Muslim prayer rug, the universal symbol for Muslims, on the floor. Don’t worry, taxpayers, because the rug was donated. But don’t worry people of other religions, you can use the room too. You can pray, meditate or anything else as Musaitef is praying on the prayer rug, a sacred religious item for Muslims around the world.

Katie Phillips (D), Teacher – Indian Trail & Academy

That paragraph was 100% true. With a permission slip from parents, students can go into the Muslim prayer room. What’s the difference between the two stories? Why is one true and the other isn’t? Why would KUSD approve one and not the other? Can the church of satan pray in this room? What about scientology? Can a Jew put up the Star of David in the room? I’m sure Musaitef would love that. What if someone makes up a religion that requires one have two hours a day for lunch and a 40-minute nap? Where will KUSD draw any lines? This is a slippery slope that KUSD is playing on.

We asked KUSD Superintendent Jeff Weiss (D) if the district would allow a cross in the prayer room at Indian Trail. No response. We asked him about the possibilities from paragraph #1. Silence.

Here’s the truth, liberals often scream about “Separation Between Church and State.” Not here they aren’t. The muslim prayer room at ITA was actually picked up on by the liberal newspaper her in Kenosha. KCE should note that we wouldn’t normally post photos of a teacher and student in this context without permission but KCE decided since they were happy to be in the local newspaper, they forfeited their right to privacy.

KUSD and other school district have been hijacked by extreme leftists and we will see more of this in the coming years.

      1. I don’t see a problem with what are often called personal needs rooms either at companies or public schools, but they need to remain neutral of any religion.

  4. What’s next, a tranny flag hanging in front of the school? THESE United States were founded on Judaeo-Christian values so yes to the hypothetical paragraph one but no to any other. It’s what God would want. The ONE TRUE God. The rest are idols.

      1. If you’re not a believer than yes, you can worship any idol you want; just worship Baal and the likes elsewhere- not at school.
By the way, Jesus died for your sins too and you’re always welcome to repent and come home.

  5. This is so typical of KUSD and the effete Jeffrey Weiss! They cater to all the oddities, such as LGBTQ+whatever, Muslims and anti-Christian groups, but when Christians want to have at least equal rights, they are shut down time and time again. It is high time to PULL YOUR KIDS OUT OF THE GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS! THey are evil, they breed evil and they push porn and radical gender ideology. They change their policies to suit their agendas and nothing is done to stop them. DO NOT VOTE for people who hate your kids!

    56
    7
    1. Clearly you hate anyones kids that aren’t white, straight, and follow your exact religion… maybe take a look in the mirror when you’re talking about “people who hate your children” This isn’t the 1900’s anymore, it’s 2024 and people still can’t just mind their own business

  6. I see a lot of people misinformed and please remember that this is an opinion piece and a lot of this isn’t facts, it isn’t solely just a Muslim prayer room, any faith can come in and any faith can use it, y’all are sickening wishing literal hell and torture onto a Highschool girl

    16
    46
      1. And you are so naive to believe that. It’s for Muslims and this was only done because it’s the latest fad among the progressive left to pander to Muslims and be anti-Israel. Doesn’t this so called creepy progressive teacher realize that the Muslims hate the LGBTQ community? Probably not.

          1. She is not Muslim . She is a fangirl of Muslims . HUGE difference . My advice to you is NEVER EVER visit a Muslim country if you value your life .

            5
            1
        1. How are you going to generalize a whole religion saying they hate the LGBTQ community… you know every muslim in this world?? Wtf happened to not all cops are bad because it’s not every cop…

          2
          4
      2. But his main point was how it was only a Muslim prayer and only had Muslim representation when in fact that’s not true, and the things being said about a Highschool MINOR girl is disgusting

        5
        27
  7. While working in another Wisconsin school district installing building security equipment in a storage room, our crew was asked to pause and remove ourselves so a muslim student could occupy the room alone for the purpose of prayer. Needless to say, the cost of this delay was added to the invoice and the school staff was very firm to ensure this student had their prayer time.

    4
    4
    1. We already have to pay for Baal child sacrifice centers (abortion clinics), are we that shocked that now we have to pay for the satan worship at school?

      7
      2
  8. So, the real question is whether a public school should dedicate a room for prayer. That’s a debatable question. All the rest is just a lot of smoke with no fire. The opinion piece’s opening scenario isn’t real and employs implausible circumstances to stretch its point. Catholics aren’t required to pray the rosary daily and certainly don’t require solitude to pray it. Someone, who just happens to be Muslim, requested a “prayer room” and the school district’s response was to allow it, but the prayer room is technically religion neutral, and a rug is just a rug, no matter who donated it. Maybe if more kids used it, the learning environment would be improved.

    6
    33
    1. Give me a f**king break lib. KUSD should start worrying more about education and less about these pathetic liberal social issues.

      36
      1
    2. Exactly, and the easy (and correct) answer is a resounding, “NO!”. I do not wish to have my property taxes used for any kind of religious room, shrine, hovel, whatever. That money goes to education and the various religious sects are already sticking extra costs to me by way of their various tax breaks. If your deity cannot hear you without a special room, pray louder, or go to your place of worship and pray your deity pays better attention to you, or at least gets glasses and hearing aids.

      15
      1
      1. As long as it’s a kosher or halal animal it should be fine. Maybe after get some kosher ham from the sacrifice.

        1
        1
    3. Catholics can pray the rosary daily in Catholic School. I imagine there are schools for Muslims where they can worship throughout the day. Separation of church and state.

      3
      1
  9. I’d say they should accommodate any religion, even nuts like witches, and that the wall of separation is not in the constitution. (Shall make no law) But then you run into the problem of bad faith actors with bullshit like jedi and spaghetti people and satanists who are just trying to gum up the works.
For purposes of equal treatment, they’re going to have to get rid of the room eventually.

    20
    3
  10. People need to understand ” separation of Church and state” in short it was formed to keep the government out of churches and persons right to worship or believe the way they wish amd to make sure that government didnt dictate what religion we have to go by. It is NOT to keep religion or church out of government such as schools and other state and federal entities. People miss use this all the time. I encourage anyone to look up Prager U they have a great 2 min video on the subject . I wish people would stop coming to the school board podium and throwing that phrase around .

    35
    7
    1. Maybe parents don’t want Muslim prayer rooms in their schools? Maybe they don’t want their kids to constantly be indoctrinated by the left? Maybe they just want their kids to succeed in Science, Math, English, etc. Maybe they don’t want homosexual explicit books in the libraries. Muslims don’t like that either you know? The school board had become nothing more than an arm of the left wing extremists. Pathetic.

      33
      3
      1. Doesn’t matter. Maybe the taxpayers have the right to NOT pay for this nonsense, since we are already overpaying for underachieving education as a religion.

        8
        1
    2. lol prager u. You can keep all religious nonsense out of my government institutions. Another reason why you should not be on the school board.

      3
      4
  11. This is a PUBLIC entity and any LGBTQ, religious requirements, meditation rooms, prayer rooms should ALL be rejected by the board and KUSD should immediately get back to teaching and learning which is why it exists period. Board members and administrators who don’t protect the separation of church and state should be voted out of office and/or dismissed from their positions. This isn’t rocket science; follow the constitution!

    37
    2
    1. So we are supposed to pay already high property taxes and then also pay for tuition at a private school? Where exactly should I send my kids to school? Please enlighten me.

There are plenty of good kids and parents at KUSD. Are there problems, yes, but I would prefer my sons go into the world knowing nothing is perfect than be coddled at a private school such as Lakeshore or the Prairie School.

      2
      4
  12. FFS Indian Trail should focus their energy on not letting all their teachers hit on minor children instead of worrying about this stupid prayer shit….

    29
    4
  13. Thanks to “Jo Mama”, some of you have now learned a little more about Islam. This person is 100% serious about calling the rest of us “infidels”, claiming we’ll all go to hell if we don’t embrace Islam, the blatantly misogyny, the slurs and insults, etc. They demand preference, based on Sharia law, their goal is to get the rest of us to obey and practice it as well. According to the Quran, “Islam must prevail”.

    6
    3
  14. So glad that enrollment is dropping and we’re closing schools, since they obviously aren’t going to be graduating many people that can compete with China other than stealing from Walmart.

    5
    1
  15. This is an interesting thread. There are many misperceptions about prayer and religion in public schools and this thread is helping clarify them.

Yes, prayer may be permitted and religion exercised (and to some extent, taught) in the public schools subject to constitutional limitations.

Anyone who doesn’t believe that there’s prayer in public schools has never been a kid who didn’t study the night before and now has to take a pop quiz!

The difference is that the government cannot force or sponsor religious activity. You can’t make a kid sit in a classroom and listen to Bible readings, for example.

There is no prohibition against individual prayer and religion is regularly brought up in, for example, World History where it was a major factor in many historical events. Certainly the friction between Judaism and Islam in the Middle East is an appropriate discussion in a public school but religious indoctrination is not.

It’s a common sense thing. For example, a history teacher might discuss Pope John Paul II’s behind-the-scene contributions to the downfall of Communism in Eastern Europe. That’s cool. A teacher praying the rosary at the beginning of a class would rightfully be in hot water.

    3
    6
  16. A girl is allowed to use a room in a school to practice her religion…. because of harassment by many idiots like the ones posting above.
This is a country based on freedom. And there are numerous religions. And there are many different types of people.
The only thing that never changes are the redneck racist white idiots spending thousands on Trump flags and reading NewsMax because they’re afraid of all the other people in the world. They stomp and pout and make anonymous insults on the internet because it makes them think they’re powerful.
Real power comes from real knowledge. And respect comes from giving respect.
    Grow up morons!

    4
    11
    1. So, you wouldn’t have an issue with an Aryan group practicing their religion in school eh? If she’s a true “Muslim”: does she read the Quran every 30 days? In it’s original text? Is she doesn’t she’s just another fraud.

      20
      5
    2. Real power comes from our one true God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I’m grateful the founders were led by the Holy Spirit to start this great nation and base its values on it’s only true religion.

      3
      1
  17. Why is it so difficult for people to just respect other peoples beliefs and go about your own business. Every single one of us is an immigrant. For crying out loud get a life instead of worry what other people do. This is appalling to say the least.
