Both the prosecutor and the defense attorney today told Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Anthony Milisauskas that they are ready to proceed to trial for a local pastor accused of repeatedly molesting his granddaughter. Monroe Mitchell III, lead pastor at Agape Love Christian Church here in Kenosha, will stand trial in front of a jury of his peers beginning July 10, 2024.

The now-16-year-old victim told her teacher on Thursday, September 15, 2022 that her grandfather, Monroe Mitchell III touched her private areas many times for the last year. She lived with him and her grandmother. The assaults started when she was 15. The young woman and her other grandmother talked to DCFS about in 2021, and she said “[DCFS] didn’t do anything.” After DCFS refused to act, she felt “trapped in a cage.” After Mitchell would touch her privates he would tell her to “keep it between us.” He would often enter her room when her underwear was the only thing on and ordered her to keep her bedroom door unlocked. She told a KPD detective that the assault happened most recently in the summer of 2022 – she said Monroe tried to touch her vagina under her shorts, but she resisted. Monroe denied the allegations to police.

DCFS staff are mandatory reporters and KCE is unaware whether or not DCFS notified Kenosha police as they are required by law. DCFS is often criticized for not doing complete or any investigations, so many would blame this terrible mistake on the incompetence of the DCFS office here in Kenosha County, but we learned something alarming. Monroe Mitchell III is the father of Kenosha violent felon and Parkside professor, Sharmain Harris. We told you that Harris was making hundreds of thousands off of the County thanks to John Jansen, Kenosha County’s Director of Human Services. Samantha Kerkman did not renew this contract. Like his son, Mitchell is a convicted felon for selling crack. Like his son, Monroe has domestic abuse charges and convictions. Like his son, he has recently asked governor Tony Evers for a pardon. Like his son, DA Graveley supported Mitchell’s pardon. DA Graveley decided that his office taking this case isn’t a conflict of interest.

We emailed Ron Rogers and John Jansen to ask if the terrible mistake was due to incompetence, or if they intentionally told DCFS to “stand down” due to their relationship with Sharmain Harris. Rogers sent us an email this evening saying that he can’t comment on this case. There is no possibility for media or citizen oversight over DCFS because of the secrecy laws. This makes it incredibly easy for bureaucrats like Rogers and Jansen to evade scrutiny. This is evident in the extremely popular Netflix documentary “The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez.” The only people that can review this, is the County Board and the County Executive. They are aware of the deficiencies at Kenosha’s DCFS.

Kenosha’s DA, Mike Graveley, is a big supporter of Pastor Mitchell and his family. So supportive, in fact, that he asked Governor Tony Evers to pardon Mitchell’s felonies. Mitchell has a serious criminal history including the following charges and/or convictions:

1985 Obstruct Officer
1985 Disorderly Conduct
1991 Felony Possession of Controlled Substances
1991 Probation Violation
1991 Probation Violation
1994 Felony Manufacture/ Delivery Crack Cocaine (4 Years Prison)
1997 Domestic Abuse / Domestic Battery
2004 Domestic Abuse / Disorderly Conduct
2022 Repeated Sexual Assault of a Child and Two Counts of Attempted Fourth Degree (Pending)

Sharmain Harris and his father, Pastor Monroe Mitchell
(Facebook)

DA Graveley is a big supporter of Monroe Mitchell’s son Sharmain. Both of these men have a very similar and extensive criminal history of domestic violence and selling drugs. Graveley nonetheless wants both men to have their felonies pardoned.

KCE will be at the trail.

  1. I used to work for Ron and John at DCFS. These two nincompoops are the most incompetent buffoons I’ve ever met in my life. I worked in child welfare in many other positions and I have never met two more idiotic people than these two clowns.

      1. Why would he be part of the problem? He said he USED to work for them. How do you know that once he realized what a problem they are that he quit? That’s a good thing when you don’t want to work for incompetent people.

      1. Probably Stefanie Caputo. She was more concerned about Kevin’s whereabouts yesterday, than the fact that a chomo was walking free with no cash bail.

          1. She insinuated that you were responsible for instigating the fighting that occurred outside the courthouse yesterday. Kenosha County Scanner’s public Facebook post about the fight, not the subscriber page.

  2. Always comical to see when people break the law and Kevin reports on it the one thing in common. Andy berg is friends with them. Thank god he was voted out. With the crimes he commits and his friends commit, it’s amazing people support him. And he’s a father????

  3. How can you support anyone with these charges? Even your father!?? Criminals really do stick together I suppose

  4. When are these “leaders” going to act on several cases of malfeasance by Rodgers and his crew of degenerates? Reminds me of the AJ Freund tragedy in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Those DCFS workers were held accountable for their malfeasance… Not in Kenosha County!

  5. Comical when berg posts about trump breaking the law and being convicted. Your no better there ya fucken thief.

  6. Speaking of criminals that are related, what’s the update on Steinbrink JR? My understanding is he is probably with the Huber program. Gee. How nice. Steinbrink JR. gets to do whatever he wants all day and just has to go back to jail for overnight. I wonder if he is still running his business which means he can literally go ANYWHERE since it would consist of traveling to different locations throughout the day if needed. He gets to use his personal phone, probably go out for lunch with buddies, literally go anywhere. Hey, if he is hired to do a job at a friend’s house, girlfriend’s house, family’s house, or Geez, even his OWN house, he probably free to do that too! What a joke!

  7. There is so much evil in this case! From DCFS to the lawyers to the DA to the pastor. My gosh–they all need to be shot in the town square

    3
    4
    1. It’s amazing that these men call themselves Pastors and do such evil things. Curtiss Tolefree the former Dean and Principal at KUSD has a trial coming up for sleeping with a student. It’s amazing that he’s a pastor as well and even more amazing that other Pastor’s associate with these guys who are charged with such crimes.

  8. If you’re black and Kenosha, you can do it anything you wanna do and not be prosecuted..Maybe the Mahone fund will bail his ass out .

    5
    2
  9. Whats the point. Gravely and McNeill will support him again for a full pardon from the worst governor EVERs.

    2
    2
  10. Sharmain Harris has served his time, put himself through college and designed a program to strengthen families by empowering fathers to provide financially and emotionally for their kids. He doesn’t need to be dragged through the mud for the sins of his father.

  11. Our DA constantly recuses himself, what legal recourse do we have when he doesn’t do that in an obvious case where he must?

    1
    1
  12. Kenosha DCFS is a JOKE!!! At some point they should be charged with failing these children! Kudos to the teacher, but this started in Sept of 2022 and this case still isn’t finished! My children were sexually assaulted DCFS did nothing and my children still had to go to their fathers where it was happening. I took it to court and asked for supervised visits and was denied. My children were assaulted again so I filed a devo and went before Kirkman who denied my request. After the 3rd time the offender was removed from the house.
