“I’m Your Boss!”: Stoner Shouts Down Staff in Heated Village Meeting

George Stoner (D) – President, Village of Somers

Somers, Wis. — Somers Village President George Stoner lost his temper during a Feb. 4 board meeting, shouting at colleagues and claiming to be the supervisor of the public works superintendent — a claim that contradicts state law.

The outburst erupted during a discussion about the village’s snow and salt removal practices. Stoner, who previously managed public works, criticized current staff for what he called excessive salting and said the village is “wasting thousands of dollars.”

When Superintendent James Kleinfelter pushed back, saying today’s conditions require a more modern and proactive approach, Stoner interrupted and raised his voice.

“I’m your boss,” Stoner said, prompting Trustee Jack Aupperle to call for order. “No yelling,” Aupperle said. Trustee Jackie Klapproth Nelson added, “You are the president of the village. You cannot be doing this in a public meeting to employees.”

Stoner insisted he wasn’t yelling, but multiple trustees disagreed. “You are,” Klapproth Nelson said.

Kleinfelter maintained that the old policy Stoner referenced is outdated and no longer fits the village’s needs. “We are so tired of hearing about how it was done in the ’90s,” he said. “It’s not the ’90s anymore. And we got a hell of a lot more people here.”

Under Wisconsin law, public works employees in municipalities with an appointed village administrator report to the administrator — not to elected officials like the village president.

Despite the clash, board members agreed the current snow removal policy needs updating. A new version has been proposed that emphasizes flexibility, improved safety, and cost-efficiency through equipment calibration and smarter salting practices.

  1. That guy Stoner sounds like a petty tyrant and looks more like a janitor than president of anything. I’ll bet he wears all black gym shoes and has his name embossed on the back of his belt.

  2. It took alot of OT for them to get that salt down! It was a bad winter…

My car went from black to white for 3 months.

      1. Have they talked about the guy they hired from the City of Kenosha? Travis was fired for going home for long periods of time on the clock. Somers hired him to give a second chance, he blew it there too. Somers gave him an ultimatum to leave because he was missing too much time from work trying to pimp out his daughter as a country singer. Creep.

  3. Want to talk about over using salt drive thru Pleasant Prairie, salt mounded in the road and double run to empty trucks.

    1. “Use it or lose it” budget. If they don’t “use” it all, then they won’t get the money for that account next year.
Heaven forbid they try to SAVE money.

  4. He “ Stoner” is a chauvinist pig and thinks he can bully everyone. How no one ran against him is past me. Selling his Village down the tubes. Not nice to deal with for anyone in the Village.

  5. It really won’t take much for someone to win. Door knocking wins this election. There’s a lot of dislike for Stoner in the Village of Somers. It’s time for someone to step up. There is a Village Administrator that runs the village. The Village President really just presides over the meetings. Stoner has overstepped for a long time. If you want to run in two years and you want help, message Kevin. He’ll know who this is to get a hold of to help.

  6. First and foremost most my name is Robert g hamilton jr. I go by fed up. I’m tired of somers bulkshit. I owned the property in back of the bar owned it for 23 years and bought it from richard Lois johnson. The bar now owns it. No bad feelings here. BUT!!.the way I was forced off thos propert was criminal and George stoner hand his hand in it. Randy’s landscaping moved in next door to me kept his mountains of colored mulch there. Polluted my well after north of 10 grand redoing everything. When I had a test done by the state of wisconson it can back as a polluted well. This well is a high capacity well 200 deep and had a 3/4horse in it. The test came back with 17 different heavy metals in it. The drinking water was colored red. This crap went on from 2004 till 2018 when I finally said fuck you somers. Now. Joe Smith is another on I told him NOT to put the bar snow on my fence guess what he did 2 years in a row did over 2 grand in damage. Think he’d pay for that. Soooooo. To think stoner is a tyrant. And he has his buddies with him. I lost 180 thousand because of his criminal acts along with kenosha county. Don’t believe me look at what somers did to the lichter propery across from shoreland. Jim lichter fought that for years that was a bill Morris deal. Land erosion big time. Something people don’t know about me I live at 7816 12th street but we also own a 90cow dairy in racine . County. I’ve had this conversation with Kevin in my shop. Ti bad he wasn’t our village pres this ordeal with somers and I go very deep. The board went extra steps to get me off 1226 80th Ave what there agenda was beats me. In the end was it cost them money to tear the house down and every board member better be looking at each other at what they have done. Frederick I’ve talked to but he’s Jim’s friend. What’s his caus4. He knows what happened across from shoreland. He knows some what somers and kenosha county did to me. There’s more to this when Gregg sinnen was running for election we sat down and I told him what somers did at 1226 80 the ave. I said good luck. S

    1. Sounds like Pleasant Prairie …bunch of corruption. It’s not going to change either…even with this new guy just voted in. He’s been trained by Steinbrink Sr for the last 10 years and will just follow his footsteps. He did nothing with all that happened with Steinbrink Jr stealing from PP. Maybe PP will wake some day!

  7. Fact!! Was told to me. Stoner used Ben Harbaugh to get votes away from kevin when he was running for village president. Pretty dirty!!!!

  8. Have they talked about how James Kleinfelter always loses his temper? Was facing felony charges yet was still given the head Forman job? He is a joke just as much as Stoner!
