KENOSHA, Wis. — A 52-year-old Kenosha woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly assaulting her 15-year-old son with both her hands and a baseball bat during an argument over money.
Ericka Menee Jackson-Morning was charged Thursday with physical abuse of a child, intentionally causing bodily harm, with a dangerous weapon enhancer. The Class H felony carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, Jackson-Morning called 911 on May 28 and told dispatchers she had been in an argument with her son and was going to “bust him” in the head with a baseball bat. Kenosha police responded to the residence in the 1900 block of 61st Street and found her standing several feet away from the teen, holding a brown baseball bat.
The 15-year-old locked himself in a bathroom, but officers found him crying. He told police his mother had struck him multiple times with her fists and then later returned with a bat and hit him again several times. He said she began hitting him in the bathroom after he got home from school and followed him there. He denied ever trying to hit her or giving her permission to strike him.
Officers observed a red mark between the boy’s eyebrows and bruising on his left eyelid.
Jackson-Morning admitted to officers that she had “whooped his ass” with her hands and demonstrated how she grabbed him by the collar and threw him into the bathtub during the confrontation. She also acknowledged that she “probably fucked his ass up.” Although she denied striking him with the bat, officers found two bats at the scene and noted that she was holding one when they arrived.
The argument reportedly stemmed from money the teen wanted access to, which Jackson-Morning receives due to the death of his father. She told officers that the boy was swearing at her during the dispute. At the time of the incident, she also admitted to drinking and was slurring her speech, according to the complaint.
Jackson-Morning appeared in intake court Thursday, where Court Commissioner William Michel II set cash bail at $5,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 4.

I think they need more mothers like that these kids are out of control.
15-year-old is is probably bigger than her physically. In the old days that’s how parents handle discipline. She’s probably single parent trying to keep the kid off the streets. Make him do the right thing. I don’t know it’s hard to say from here but I’ve seen these kids do crazy criminal activity. If she can keep them off the street and alive that’s a win for society
My mother never hit me with a fist and she certainly never came at me with a bat!!!! There is a difference between beating and disciplining. At age 15 and the kid is crying and hiding in the bathtub to get away from her, She’s probably doing more damage than good.
ah, no. WE don’t need mothers who beat their children with a baseball bat. We never need that. Violence at home causes violence in the public.
She’s probably spending his inheritance money on booze. The mom’s the loser in this case.
Need more social programs to waste millions on in every. It’s, it’s working well… 💩
is english that. sense make not this of.
Mistrue, cheese can place irons on a shelf.
Just $5000 bail? For physically abusing your child? granted, the kid was likely a brat, but that never justifies what this poor excuse for a mother did to him. She needs to be put away and $5000 bail is NOT enough
