KENOSHA, Wis. — A 41-year-old Kenosha woman is facing serious felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly attacking her elderly mother during a domestic disturbance last week. The woman, Courtney K. Carls, was arrested June 6 and charged Monday with five criminal counts, including physical abuse of an elder person and multiple counts of bail jumping.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Kenosha County Circuit Court, police responded to a weapons call at a residence on the 4700 block of 22nd Avenue. When officers arrived, they encountered an elderly woman—over the age of 60—who reported being assaulted by her daughter inside the home they share.
The victim told officers that Carls entered her room, shouted insults, and demanded she move out. Carls allegedly struck the woman several times with various objects, including a plastic hanger, a wastebasket, a TV stand, and a thermos full of iced coffee. She also reportedly knocked over items, threw water and a glass vase, and splattered coffee on the walls.
Officers observed physical injuries to the victim, including a bleeding cut on her elbow, abrasions to her feet, and redness on her back. Her clothes and bedding were also wet when officers arrived.

Despite the visible injuries, the victim said she did not wish to pursue charges. However, prosecutors moved forward based on the evidence and statements gathered at the scene. One officer noted that the victim’s version of events was corroborated by physical evidence including coffee stains and a puddle of liquid that smelled like coffee.
While officers interviewed the victim, another officer spoke with Carls. She admitted to confronting her mother, claimed she was wet from coffee being thrown on her, and said she wanted her mother to leave the house. Carls denied causing any injuries.
In addition to the felony abuse charge, Carls was charged with one count of felony bail jumping and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping. She was already out on bond in three separate criminal cases filed earlier this year—one felony and two misdemeanors—and was under court orders not to commit any new crimes. Prosecutors allege the new charges constitute clear violations of those bonds.
The final charge filed against her Monday was disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor enhanced with domestic abuse and elder victim penalties.
Carls appeared in court Monday afternoon. Court Commissioner William Michel II set bail at $20,000 cash. She remains in custody at the Kenosha County Jail.
If convicted on all counts, Carls faces more than 40 years in prison, with additional time possible due to sentencing enhancers for elder abuse and domestic violence. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 20.

Wow, she is a real sweetheart! And she doesnt look very remorseful for allegedly abusing the elderly much less her own mother. She looks like a real smart ass!
I know these people. The mother may be old but not even close to frail and nuttier than a fruit cake. The daughter has young children to raise and the children are special needs. Of course the father of the children is useless as tits on a bull. It’s easy to judge and I’m sure your household has its share of instability and off the wall behavior. Worry about yourself goof. You couldn’t walk in the defendants shoes for a second so shut the fuck up.
No excuse to abuse the very person who gave you life!
daughter is nuttier than squirrel poop too, she’s not some wonderful mother
Agreed! Get a life Gof62
Lol….hahaha
She was forced to take in her homeless mother with severe mental and drug problems. Also dealing with children of her own with disabilities for those who want to judge.
She doesn’t have children the grandmother does which is fighting cancer so don’t talk till you know the truth
