KENOSHA, Wis. – A Kenosha man who admitted to damaging two golf courses was ordered to serve 20 days in jail this week after multiple probation violations—less than a year after being given a chance to avoid a felony conviction.
Adam P. Stankus, 21, appeared in Kenosha County Circuit Court Tuesday for a probation review hearing before Judge Angelina Gabriele. The hearing was scheduled after the court received two letters from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections citing violations in June and July. While the exact nature of the violations are not known by Kenosha County Eye, the probation agent indicated that Stankus’s urine testing was increased and his supervision level was raised to maximum—suggesting the violations may be drug-related.
Probation Agent Chelsea Southern appeared by video and told the court that Stankus had been offered programming in response to the violations but failed to complete it. Prosecutor Carlie O’Donnell appeared for the state. Judge Gabriele ordered 20 days in jail as a condition of continued probation, and Stankus was taken into custody immediately following the hearing.
Stankus was charged in April 2023 with five counts tied to a series of late-night incidents at Maplecrest Country Club and Petrifying Springs Golf Course. According to the criminal complaint, he and several friends used a Chevy Blazer to do doughnuts on the greens, causing extensive damage, and also stole flagpoles and other items. Damage estimates exceeded $30,000.
Despite the scope of the allegations, Stankus was not arrested and didn’t appear in court until May 2025—more than a year after charges were filed. He was granted a signature bond by then-Commissioner Loren Keating.
On August 22, 2024, he pleaded guilty to two felony counts of criminal damage to property. Three additional charges were dismissed but read in. Judge Gabriele withheld sentence and placed him on 18 months of probation, ruling that he would be eligible for expungement if he successfully completed it without violations.
This week’s sanction marks the first time Stankus has faced jail time for the offenses. The court has not scheduled another review hearing, and his probation remains active under elevated supervision.
