WHEATLAND, Wis. — A 24-year-old Wheatland woman already facing felony strangulation and other domestic abuse charges has been hit with a new misdemeanor after authorities say she violated a no-contact order from jail.
According to a criminal complaint, Autumn R. Hecketsweiler attempted to call her mother — the victim in the earlier case — from the Kenosha County Jail on Aug. 15, just two days after she was arrested for allegedly choking and attacking her. Jail records show she placed the call at 8:27 p.m. to her mother’s number, despite a 72-hour no-contact order and bond condition prohibiting any communication. Her mother told deputies she immediately recognized her daughter’s voice and hung up.
When questioned, Hecketsweiler at first denied making the call but later admitted to it, saying she was sorry and wanted a lawyer.
Prosecutors have now charged Hecketsweiler with contact after a domestic abuse arrest, a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine.
She appeared in court Monday and was released on a $500 cash bond for the new offense. She is due back in court on Aug. 31.
