KENOSHA, Wis. — Less than a year after flipping her SUV with her two young children trapped inside, former competitive figure skater and current skating coach Megan M. Schultz, 36, was sentenced to just seven days in jail Monday for driving drunk with minors in her vehicle. She had a blood alcohol level of .218, almost three times the legal limit.

Court records show that Schultz, who previously made headlines for being released on no-cash bail after the November 17, 2024 crash, pleaded guilty before Judge Heather Iverson to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a minor under 16 years old.

Despite the violent nature of the crash—where her white Jeep flipped onto its side after striking two parked cars—Iverson imposed what many observers will consider a slap on the wrist: one week in jail and 93 days of work release, along with a $1,019 fine, a one-year driver’s license revocation, and an ignition interlock device for the same duration. Schultz was given credit for one day served and ordered to report to the jail on October 25.
A Dangerous Crash
According to the criminal complaint, Kenosha Police were dispatched to the 3600 block of 40th Street just before 8 p.m. after callers reported a Jeep flipped over with children inside. Responding officers found Schultz dazed and smelling strongly of alcohol. When asked how the accident occurred, she said she didn’t know and admitted to having consumed four White Claws earlier in the day.
Her children, ages 6 and 8, were found strapped into car seats inside the overturned vehicle. A pink water bottle leaking alcohol was recovered from the front seat area. Schultz was unsteady on her feet and refused field sobriety tests before being arrested.
Lenient Outcome
The charge—Operating While Intoxicated (1st Offense) with a Minor in the Vehicle—is a misdemeanor under Wisconsin law, carrying a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,100 fine. Despite nearly causing what could have been a deadly tragedy, Schultz received barely a week behind bars.
Kenosha County Eye previously reported that Court Commissioner William Michel II released her without cash bail at her initial court appearance, even though officers found alcohol containers and two terrified children in her car. The decision drew outrage from community members who viewed it as another example of Kenosha’s revolving-door approach to dangerous offenders.
Now, with this sentence, that outrage is likely to intensify. Schultz’s conduct—drinking, flipping a vehicle with her children inside, and damaging parked cars—could easily have ended in tragedy. Instead, she will serve less than the length of a typical traffic ticket payment plan.

Figure Skater Turned Coach
Before her criminal case, Schultz was known in the community as a talented figure skater who once earned a bronze medal in the Junior Grand Prix Final. She has more recently worked as a figure skating coach at the Village of Pleasant Prairie RecPlex, one of the largest municipal recreational facilities in the Midwest.
When contacted for comment about Schultz’s employment status following her conviction, the Village of Pleasant Prairie declined to say whether she is still employed there.

I have a solution to keep her children safe…I’m willing to give up my time to be her permanent DD. She needs a responsible male her in life and I think I’m willing to make the sacrifice to keep our roadways safer 🫡
You’re altruistic.
Designated Driver ? Just two Ds’ ??
I’m guessing you have another D you are thinking of bringing to to her
Again another comment on the females that grace these stories
yup ………….. Democrat.
shes’s definitely not a democrat…
She’s a certified Trumper.
Is there more than two D’s in Designated Driver??
Yes. The D in his pants. Read the whole reply. He’s a man in Wisconsin. Pervert
Everyone who disliked this can’t take a joke. Some of you are insufferable. I’d be willing be bet money at least 3/4 of the downvotes only have sex in missionary. #changemymind

Sounds about White.
White is all the colors, black is the absence of color, facts
It took me years to understand this, but you’re right.
Actually, you’re only half-correct.
Your statement about “Light” is true…”white-light” is the presence of ALL the colors of light simultaneously, whereas “blackness” is the absence of all light (also known as ‘darkness’)
However, when applied to pigments (of paint for instance), ‘white’ is the absence of all color, ‘black’ is all the colors simultaneously.
Do your own research, you’ll realize your half-error.
The White, blond haired, Party girls all look for one another.
Too many black and brown men want White women over their own
I mean…..well, look.
Such a dumb comment. There is story after story about black criminals getting off too easily as well.
sounds about Democrat ….. of the last 10 years ..
This drinking began when she tried to perform the iron lotus (while skating) and was injured..
It’s about time a white person is afforded some leniency. How about you shut the fuck up and be thankful for the safe world the white man has provided for you. Nig.
Why would I listen to a coward like you? You are a racist who lacks the courage to actually fully spell out the N-word.
What safe world ?
Bitch shut up
No justice at all. I’m a white woman and never had trouble. She got off because she’s a pretty white girl and the judge is a Democrat. If I’m wrong please correct me.
Conservative?!?!?!? Heather is a raging liberal who makes fun of all the patriots She duped in her election.
Keep watching her sentences. She is as bad as Jody “Pubic Defender” Meyer
Well, she isn’t a criminal. She made a horrible decision, which led to a horrible mistake. Should she face those consequences? Absolutely. But that doesn’t mean jail is the best option. Plus, they let all these violent criminals out all the time. I think she deserves the benefit of the doubt. I’m more than positive, that the last year has been hell for her. I’m praying that she can get the help that she needs, and her and the kiddos can make it through this rough patch.
She put two children at risk of DEATH !!
Or worse. A lifetime of physical hurt, care or disfigurement.
Your statement just recognizes the fact that this State doesn’t see drunk driving as the crime it needs to be recognized as !!
First offense drunk driving is only a ticket. That law needs to be changed.
Maybe for a drunk who is pulled over for driving slowly or one who is found passed out behind the wheel of their car with the keys in the ignition.
But if the first time you are found driving drunk is when you wreck your car with or without children in the back, the first offense statue needs to enhanced with harsher penalties.
This State, the home to the old fashion and fish fry needs to take a more serious stance on drunk driving and the possibilities of the first offense being the worst offense.
Just because this is the first time she was found to be drunk in a vehicle doesn’t mean it was the first time she ever was !!
A drunk of this magnitude, who is willing to get in her vehicle in this condition AND with her young children, deserves jail !! To the maximum allowed by law, in this case half a year.
Let her extended family step up to house her children while she’s in jail.
It will do them ALL good
You’re an idiot. You obviously have never had a DUI, otherwise you would know that there is a LOT more to receiving one, than what you are reading. Including multiple classes to get your license back, impact panels, and don’t get me started on your insurance going sky high. People make mistakes, you’ve never made one I suppose? I am NOT making excuses for her, or her behavior, but sometimes you have NO clue what a person may be going through. Have a little grace, and empathy. She is blessed she did not lose her children, and VERY lucky to be alive herself. She will live with this mistake for the rest of her life, and hopefully be better for it. Putting someone in jail for life is not the answer to a first DUI. Educating them is.
Going to jail because she put her children in harms way !
I’m not talking about the average run of the mill first time offender.
I’m talking about the decision she made drinking knowing she had to take her children with her or to somewhere.
Drinking and driving when are by yourself and you just want to get home is a decision you make.
But when you don’t consider the possibilities what might happen to your children, that’s something you need to sit in jail and be forced to think about.
All that you mentioned about insurance and classes or even with the ignition interlock , which is embarrassing on its own, she got off easy. Too easy.
Alcoholism is a disease. One that’s hard to cure. Time in jail is a start that hopefully for her a week is enough.
Time will tell
… all these other things didn’t happen.
Laws and punishment are not just for those that break them. They also are for those that are thinking of breaking them.
This example of a person not having to go to jail for the full time possible is less of a deterrent to others.
You know, if it wasn’t for KCE we wouldn’t even know about this drunk.
Maybe this is punishment enough ?
Very good points. One DUI at age 36 after four White Claws is not a 5 alarm fire. Though the flipped SUV with children inside is more serious.
There were surely times in my past when if I had been stopped, I’d have gotten a DUI, especially in the 70’s when the legal limit was .14, nearly double .08 today.
Never having experienced a DUI legal and financial drama, thanks for stating what one will experience if getting one. Certainly it’s not a jolly time and is very expensive, including possibly losing one’s job, income and means of transportation.
What did the judge give Nathan Lawler when he was driving drunk with his child?
https://kenoshacountyeye.com/2023/08/03/local-business-owner-charged-with-driving-drunk-with-three-year-old-child-in-vehicle/
The article is written before is sentencing. What did he end up getting?
Are you reading this story ?!?!
Time to revisit our state’s drunk driving laws and allow for better enhancements to the first offense statues.
This gal needs more than the slap on the wrist she got.
Only by the grace off God did her children not get injured or worse, killed.
She was a criminal the second she put her jeep into gear.
Judge needs to lay off the snacks.
She was definitely given special treatment by the Judge.
Past behavior predicts future behavior. A person will change their behavior when they are given stiff consequences. The special treatment she was been given will only fuel her alcohol addiction. I believe this will not be the last time we hear about her making very bad decisions.
The judicial system is in the toilet. Deep urge to relocate to red state that truly cares about law & order. Yes, this one got me smoking hot Kevin. What the hell has happened to us as human beings? No care for humanity any longer?
Yes, please move to a red state and take your fellow cult members with you. Wisconsin will be better off without you.
lol see how CA, IL and NY are doing? Dumbass 🤣
Did she get a 100 day jail sentence with the first seven days without Huber work release? The article is unclear.
If she did, then real world is that she will serve 75 days with seven days without work release. That’s because of 25% good time credit.
And not even close to enough
Hopefully she’s not a coach anymore. What a terrible example, not to mention she’d prob drive drunk with someone else’s kids in the car.
Doubt it. Coaches go through background checks.
She really skated through those charges
That’s a Good One !!!
Hahaha !!
This had surely resulted in my blood pressure spiking again Kevin. Where is the humanity, common sense for law & order, safety of children who have a parent who makes decisions that would put any children at risk?
Thank God the children survived.
Hopefully Judge Heather Iverson career will be short lived. She is pathetic, dangerous. Thanks for showing any interest in the children’s lives with your sentence Judge Iverson. That should rehabilitate mommy for driving drunk with her children. This skating mother should have been charged with child endangerment for her choice to drive drunk.
KCE should bring back the Iverson article. She deserves no favoritism.
Absolute smoke show so I’m good with it.
Unconscionable sentence! This is not even a slap on the wrist. I pray she doesn’t kill anyone the next time she drinks and drives
Jeeps are prone to rolling over after white clawing all day. She received a light sentence because she is HOT!
Iverson is terrible. She needs to go. I wonder if Gagliardi would have given that sentence. Stop believing that she is a conservative. Iverson does what she wants in court and will probably continue to do so until she is replaced. She has made multiple bad decisions. This is one of the worst. Kenosha needs to have a fresh starts with judges, commissioner and guardian ad litems.
The sentencing guidelines call for a 120 day jail sentence. However, a defendant completing a treatment program before sentencing can be sentenced to less. In this case, it appears that she was compliant with pretrial monitoring for nearly a year and treatment. My guess is that’s why she was cut a little slack.
Any man would have received a far more harsh sentence. And worse comments from the peanut gallery.
But she’s hot
The New Testament mentions the coming of the Lawless One and his lawless system in the End Times.
We can see in this example and many others that the Courts in Kenosha County are doing their part in facilitating this prophecy.
From the lady drunk to the lady Judge who gave her a lite sentence.
Regardless of the pre sentencing conditions or follow through, these females are so emotionally involved in their actions and decisions.
I once was a supporter of Rita in Salem. Then her choice of Cassandra as Administrator.
While overall I still am I can’t not point out that both Rita and Cassandra and other females, once they get into times of stress or pressure, can’t help but start to shed a tear or two.
Emotional thinking while important in the overall process of bringing life experiences to the table, it needs to be checked at the door when making important decisions or judging someone’s behavior.
Or taking the heat for bad decisions.
We need females in government.
But please take a deep breath before you think about crying in front of us.
For lack of a better way of saying this,
“ Step up and take it like a man !! “
Bill Michels strikes again !
Shame on this judge!!!!!
Not her first time driving drunk and causing property damage, just first time being caught. Family likes to promote high moral values, but doesn’t live them. Daddy bails her out of any jam she’s in. Privileged and white and good looking. That’s what gets you the lighter sentence in the US.
She sure got away with her careless and selfish behavior. Maybe next time she won’t be so lucky. I hope she learned her lesson and gets help!
This chick is a functioning alcoholic. You do NOT get to .214 on 4 White Claws. She DRINKS, often, and a LOT. Those numbers speak volumes.
[email protected]
She is a total smoke show. Hopefully this turns her decision making process around.
