SILVER LAKE, Wis. — The Silver Lake J1 School Board on Monday accepted the immediate resignation of District Administrator Kim Taylor, ending her two-and-a-half-year tenure at the helm of Riverview School District.
Taylor, who began serving as district administrator in July 2023, announced her departure in a letter dated Oct. 21, citing personal reasons. Her resignation took effect immediately following Monday’s board meeting. In her letter, Taylor reflected on what she described as “meaningful work that reflects the heart and values of Riverview where we empower, embrace, and educate every student, every day.”
During her time leading the district, Taylor oversaw several major initiatives, including the passage of a referendum addressing critical facility needs, development of Riverview’s first strategic plan, and creation of a 10-year facilities plan. She noted that the district grew its fund balance to 38 percent after completing two budget cycles under budget—an achievement she attributed to “careful management, creative cost-saving strategies, and collaboration with the Board.”
Taylor also highlighted efforts to strengthen instruction and teacher support through new coaching and professional development models, along with initiatives to improve school safety. Under her leadership, Riverview partnered with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department to enhance its district-wide safety plan and became one of only two districts in Wisconsin to implement a crisis alert system that instantly connects staff to 911 from anywhere in the building.
Beyond academics and safety, Taylor emphasized improved communication and community engagement through a redesigned website, social media updates, newsletters, and video features showcasing Riverview’s programs.
In a district-wide announcement, the Silver Lake J1 Board expressed appreciation for Taylor’s leadership and contributions. “There is much to be proud of in terms of everything that has been accomplished over the past two-and-a-half years. We wish Ms. Taylor the very best in the future,” the board said in its statement.
Taylor concluded her letter by expressing gratitude to the community and confidence in Riverview’s future. “I leave knowing that Riverview is in a strong position financially, academically, and organizationally to continue moving forward,” she wrote. “Riverview is a gem, and I will always be grateful to have been a part of its story.”
The school board has begun the process of identifying the district’s next administrator.

Ummmm this is concerning!
My child is a student there, and I have nothing but the best opinion and much appreciation her. Ms. Taylor has done so much for the school and students. I wish we had a reason cited for her leaving the school? Aside from the incident of the teachers’ assistant incident last fall (Ms. Crocker), there have been no issues under Ms. Taylor that I’m aware of.
I hope the parents and students get more info and understand why someone who did such great things has left mid year.
My kids loved her and our school improved under Ms Taylor’s direction. She’s been hounded by some whiners on her stafff who can’t or won’t participate in moving forward. That means more work, dedication to students, and cooperation with administration, some long time deadweight would have nothing to do with it. Sad day for Riverview. She expected more of them, they attacked her instead of improving.
Don’t send my kids to that school, 4k teacher thought a book with two dudes in bed, one with a beard and nighty, was appropriate for 4k.
This is what happens when you allowed spoiled brats, Teachers, to run the show. They work 180 days a year and think they shouldn’t be held accountable to anyone. Including the District Administrator, who was hired by the school board to run the school. Something needs to change because over paying babysitters to not teach our kids isn’t working.
Kim is nothing but a bully. She micromanaged her staff and dictates. She never tried to be a team player, only an authority figure. A significant amount of staff had left because of her, and some were even fired. Good riddens.

Kim is the best of the best. If she’s a “bully” maybe you just heard something you didn’t want to hear – she gives the truth full heartedly. It’s sad it’s come to this but she will be onto better things, great job Kim! Keep it up.
