KENOSHA, Wis. — Mariano S. Almazan, 47, was sentenced to jail earlier this year in a domestic violence case after pleading no contest to two misdemeanor charges stemming from a December incident in which he kicked in a bedroom door, threatened a woman, and later resisted officers.
Almazan appeared before Circuit Court Judge Gerad T. Dougvillo for a plea and sentencing hearing. He pleaded no contest to one count of disorderly conduct with a domestic abuse modifier and one count of resisting an officer. A second disorderly conduct charge was dismissed and read in. The two convictions carried a combined maximum penalty of up to one year in jail.
Judge Dougvillo sentenced Almazan to 30 days in the Kenosha County Jail on the domestic disorderly conduct charge, giving him credit for three days served. On the resisting charge, Dougvillo imposed another 30 days, also with three days of credit, and ordered the sentences to run concurrently. Almazan had originally been ordered to report to the jail on June 21, 2025, at 8 a.m.
Jail records now show he was booked into custody on November 3, though it remains unclear whether he turned himself in months late or was taken into custody separately.
According to the criminal complaint, officers were called to Almazan’s home on Dec. 28, 2024, after a disturbance involving a woman he lived with. She told police Almazan had been drinking heavily since that morning and became increasingly aggressive, kicking her locked bedroom door open multiple times while shouting for her to “open the door and leave.” At one point, he allegedly yelled, “Next time that will be your face!”
The woman reported that Almazan threw a bag of garbage toward her, scattered strawberries around the residence, and swung his hand within an inch of her face. She said she feared he would hurt her. Police documented heavy damage to the door and found strawberries strewn through the home.
A second witness told police that after officers had left from an earlier call that day, Almazan became enraged again, grabbed his sweatshirt, spit in his face, and threatened to kill him.
When officers attempted to arrest him, police said Almazan used “dead weight tactics,” refusing to walk and forcing officers to physically lift him into a squad car.
He was also ordered to pay court costs, submit DNA, and pay the required surcharges.
