BRISTOL, Wis. — A 74-year-old convicted child sex offender will soon be released from prison and is expected to move into a residence in the Village of Bristol, prompting a public notification from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities announced Monday that Darryl L. Slater, a white male who is 5-foot-6 and approximately 220 pounds with gray hair and hazel eyes, is scheduled to be released from prison on March 17, 2026. Law enforcement says Slater will reside in the 8100 block of 214th Avenue in Bristol.
Slater was previously convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child, a serious felony offense under Wisconsin law.
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office issued the community notification under Wisconsin Statute §301.46(2m), which allows law enforcement to inform the public about certain sex offenders when officials believe the information will enhance community safety and awareness.
Officials emphasized that Slater is not currently wanted by law enforcement. However, his criminal history resulted in a classification level indicating a potential risk to reoffend, which is why the notification was issued.
Upon release, Slater will be required to comply with strict supervision rules. According to authorities, he will be placed on lifetime registration in the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registration Program and will be subject to electronic GPS monitoring.
The sheriff’s office said Slater must follow all requirements of the supervised release program, as well as standard sex offender rules imposed by his supervising agent.
Officials also warned residents that misuse of the information — including threats, harassment, or intimidation directed at the offender — will not be tolerated and could result in criminal charges. Law enforcement said the purpose of the bulletin is to increase awareness and promote public safety, not to create fear in the community.
Law enforcement notes that sex offenders have long lived within communities, but public notifications such as this became possible after the enactment of 1997 Wisconsin Act 440, which expanded the ability of authorities to share such information with the public.

Maybe he’ll run for a Bristol board position. Sex offenders get sheriff protection but minorities just get threats of arrest continuously. Ohhhhhh Amerikkka……
Eye roll.
Bet you’d love to have him as your neighbor 😉
3 felony counts dismissed and 4 years in the cooler.nice one milisauskis.
Someone said he’ll be living just behind Bristol Grade School.
Wondering if that’s true, and if it’s true, how can that be allowed?
In the neighborhood behind, yes.
That’s less than 2 miles straight west of the elementary school. Not cool. I don’t believe child molesters should breathe but if they must breathe, then it should be prison for life with no chance of parole!
That’s just great—- being released around schools and large kids park…. Not very smart
Dump his trash ass at the Kings Motel with the rest of them.
Wife took him back as well and he touched a family member !!!
