KENOSHA, Wis. — The United Way of Kenosha County is undergoing a leadership transition after its longtime chief executive stepped down, with the organization announcing a familiar face will step in to guide operations in the interim.
The organization’s Board of Directors has appointed former United Way executive David Maurer as interim chief executive officer, effective May 18, following the resignation of CEO Carolynn Friesch.
Maurer is expected to take on day-to-day leadership responsibilities during the transition, including overseeing staff, maintaining relationships with donors, and ensuring continuity in community programming. Board leadership said his prior experience with United Way operations makes him well-suited to stabilize the organization during the leadership change.
Board President Tanya Ruder said Maurer’s familiarity with the organization and its mission will be key as the group navigates the transition period and begins the search for a permanent replacement.
The board has already launched a formal search process for the next CEO and is encouraging interested candidates to apply through an online posting.
United Way of Kenosha County officials say the organization will continue its regular operations and community initiatives without interruption and plans to provide updates as the search progresses.
