WHEATLAND, Wis. — A violent head-on crash Saturday morning on State Highway 83 left multiple people seriously injured, including two who were flown from the scene by medical helicopter after emergency crews encountered a chaotic and life-threatening situation.
The crash was reported at approximately 10:07 a.m. in the 5700 block of STH 83, prompting a large-scale response from Twin Lakes Fire/Rescue, along with the Town of Wheatland and Town of Randall fire departments.
When first responders arrived, they found a devastating scene. Two individuals were lying in the roadway, one person was trapped and pinned inside a severely damaged vehicle, and another vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.
Fire crews launched an intensive rescue effort to free the trapped patient, identified as a female, in what officials described as a complex extrication that took nearly an hour due to the extent of the damage.
Given the severity of the injuries, two Flight for Life helicopters were called to the scene. Both critically injured patients were airlifted to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee after receiving life-saving care, including blood transfusions, before transport. A third patient was taken by ambulance to Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha and was reported to be in stable condition.
The response brought a heavy deployment of emergency resources. Twin Lakes Fire/Rescue sent three paramedic ambulances and a squad unit, while Randall and Wheatland fire departments provided multiple engines, trucks, and support apparatus. Additional agencies, including Salem Lakes Fire Department and Richmond, Illinois Fire Protection District, were brought in to maintain emergency coverage in the area during the incident.
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office also responded and is leading the ongoing investigation into the crash. Authorities have not released further details about the cause of the collision or the identities of those involved.
The incident remains under investigation.

$100 says speed and reckless driving were factors.
KCSO doesn’t care about that stuff.
100$ says you are still in your underwear in a basement yelling at your mom for more pizza rolls.
this could be a vaxident “another driver with a medical emergency” heart attack, stroke
I’m so glad you took a guess at what happened
My we’ve come a long way from volunteer EMTs !!
Here’s hoping that all survive regardless of the circumstances.
People need to slow down and put their cell phones down when driving. I encounter it every time im out on the roads, it’s really scary when you see people looking down at their phones while driving on the interstate!
