KENOSHA, Wis. — A Kenosha man accused of illegally possessing a loaded handgun despite being a convicted felon was given a $1,500 cash bail Monday by Court Commissioner Alexandra Smathers (D) after prosecutors sought $20,000 cash. The decision drew immediate criticism from a courthouse insider who described the bail as extraordinarily low for a firearm-related felony and questioned whether the outcome was consistent with Smathers' public advocacy for stricter gun laws and firearm regulations.

Is this common around the state for judges and commissioners to undermine prosecutors?Or just our liberals showing their power?

KPD should hire the racist tremper chem teacher. She would know to target the colored folks causing all these problems in society. the poor colored folks with no power, no money, are causing all these problems. and don’t get me started on da jabs.
Such a weird system, when she was a prosecutor (in Kenosha), she would’ve been complaining of the low bail amount…… Now she gives the low bail.
Bail should be a set amount for each crime. Doesn’t matter the age, race, sex..
Felon in possession of a firearm is a 10 year sentence, $1500 will ensure that guy doesn’t flee the area and not come to court?
Has a gun, send him to Iran. Tough guy, see how he handles it.
