SALEM LAKES, Wis. — Work is expected to begin later this week on replacing the flood-damaged culvert on 216th Avenue, according to Village of Salem Lakes officials.
The culvert was deemed a total loss following significant flooding in April, forcing the closure of the roadway for several weeks. The Villages of Salem Lakes and Bristol are now moving forward with a replacement project aimed at restoring the route.
Village Administrator Michael Kostiuk said KR Contractors will begin mobilizing equipment to the site over the next few days in preparation for construction. Work is tentatively scheduled to begin Thursday or Friday, depending on weather conditions.
If the site is too wet for construction activities, the contractor will postpone the start of work until Monday.
Once construction begins, the project is expected to take approximately one week to complete, although the timeline remains dependent on weather conditions.
Officials said motorists should continue to use alternate routes while the road remains closed. The replacement will restore a key connection that has been unavailable since the flooding damaged the culvert earlier this spring.
