BRIGHTON, Wis. — More than 3,100 people turned out Saturday morning for the 2026 Kenosha County Dairy Breakfast, continuing a longtime tradition that celebrates Wisconsin’s dairy industry and the local farm families who help sustain it. Held at Spoerlein Family Farms in Brighton, the event drew 3,153 guests under sunny skies and comfortable temperatures.

Organized by Kenosha County Dairy Promotion, the annual breakfast rotates among working dairy farms throughout the county. The event gives residents an opportunity to visit an active farm, learn more about dairy agriculture and spend time with the families who produce many of the products that have made Wisconsin known as America’s Dairyland.

Food remained one of the biggest attractions. Volunteers prepared large quantities of scrambled eggs using the event’s trademark dustpan method, while pancakes were cooked by the hundreds. Guests also enjoyed dairy favorites including milk, string cheese and frozen custard throughout the morning.
For many attendees, the breakfast has become a family tradition. Janna Hollingsworth of Kenosha said her family returns each year to visit the animals, support local farmers and enjoy a day on the farm before continuing the tradition at the Wisconsin State Fair and the Kenosha County Fair later in the summer.

Children and adults alike spent the morning petting calves and dairy cows, touring the farm and visiting with exhibitors. The large dining barn remained busy throughout the event as volunteers served guests from across Kenosha County and beyond.
The breakfast also coincided with Kenosha County’s annual Dairy Air Bike Ride. Approximately two dozen cyclists participated in the organized round-trip ride from Bristol Woods Park to the farm, covering about 22 miles before arriving for breakfast.

Members of the Spoerlein family were recognized during the event, and a Kenosha County spokesman presented a proclamation recognizing Dairy Month. The annual breakfast remains one of the county’s largest agricultural community events, bringing together residents, visitors and local farm families for a celebration of Kenosha County’s dairy heritage.

This could be such a great event, focusing on the few family farms we have left in this area.
Instead, it’s political showboating.
Politicians ruin everything. At least Nordigan was there just to help out and chat. Even Geertsen was a Zoerner mouthpiece, even without the coordinating tee.
Don’t forget the solar companies joining them in trying to snatch up the land with the RINOs help.
They have always been allowed to attend, as long as they work at the event. No political literature is given out. So as long as this is followed, all are able to attend and have a great time on the farm. An event we we are proud to have annually in Kenosha County.Hope to see everyone next year. Thank you Spoerlein Family for another successful year on your beautiful farm.
I heard a LOT of people complaining about how they couldn’t turn around without bumping into either a politician or candidate.
It was nice- as someone who farms in a neighboring county, it was interesting to see someone else’s farm.
It was pretty horrifying to walk around and see candidate shirts or politicians everywhere. This area has seen an incredible amount of demolished farmland- solar panels, Foxconn, data centers, road expansion for these projects… and to walk around and see these people pretending to be “country” and suddenly care about Wisconsin farmers was just obnoxious.
Take Sam Kerkman for example: a strong supporter of Foxconn. Operation Flying Eagle destroyed at least two Century Farms, and many, many acres of incredibly fertile crop land. We’re NEVER going to get that back. Foxconn led to an expanded KR— 195— which is now just another unregulated, uncontrolled racetrack. Que Zoerner: when will you do some sort of traffic enforcement?! I’ve had disproportionately more near-misses in Kenosha County traffic, than I have had in my own county. Back to Kerkman: When Foxconn bailed (which 99% of us predicted early in the game), then the Data Centers came in, and you thought that was great! So great that now, Kenosha is going to be getting one (some?).
This area has had more chaos and destruction at the hands of these so-called “conservatives,” while they walk around these few remaining farms, smiling and chit-chatting like they’ve done Kenosha County a great service.
Spinning it as, “as long as they’re helping” and “no literature is handed out,” isn’t doing the remaining farmers any favors- it’s making these individuals look good, while our local food sources and other agricultural lands are being destroyed.
Just the planning, forethought and correctly estimating the turnout and having the food and resources to feed that many people in that amount of time shows what Farmers are All About !!
Congratulations to all who worked this event and those that keep this running year after year !
These choice people should consider running for office. We can use smarts like this virtually everywhere !!
We were at the Dodge County Dairy Breakfast on Sunday morning. There was not a single political candidate, booth, t-shirt, or sign to be seen anywhere on the farm or people’s bodies or any of the 1200 cows. Everyone was just enjoying the food, cows being milked, dairy farm tours, and the live band. However, the Kenosha Dairy breakfast does give you yogurt and bigger helpings of ice cream. The The County Dairy Board should just tell the politicians leave the signage and speeches at home and just mingle if they wish.
They do
Some politicians claim to back farms, but behind closed doors they push unchecked mass development. They picture Kenosha County as one giant neighborhood crammed with restaurants and endless shops. They promise lower taxes, but in reality, it just expands government and taxes keep climbing. Western Kenosha County needs to stay on high alert as they target land for battery storage, data centers, and massive housing projects. And for what? More traffic, bigger government, and no real improvement to quality of life. I’d rather pay a bit more to see wildlife in my backyard than stare at a concrete wall or a six-story apartment building. Many of these so-called politicians are charlatans, oblivious to the harm they’re causing, and it’s not good for families. They think action equals progress, please stop. Developers seem to be eyeing Salem and Wheatland, so be ready; behind the scenes, these politicians aren’t for rural living, and they’re coming for your backyard view.
Funny stuff…
Farmers get old and so does farming. Money comes into play and the kids say heck ya!! Show me the money!!!
Urban sprawl is happening cause people want out of chitcago and Illinois.
Three quarters of the license plates were from Illinoing this weekend by the lake. And it was packed!
Politics plays a part for sure but not everyone in Joe public is innocent. Money is a driver and when flashed in front of someone’s face thats a land owner its grabbed regardless of how others feel. They then move to a warmer climate with money in hand.
Pretty soon unfortunately, farms down here will be a memory for the most part and housing, restuarants and some businesses will prevail. I hope its not true but Kenosha is becoming a bigger city, just look at the crimes…
In many cases, maybe— however, it’s critical to remember that some very unprecedented events occurred in Racine Co. right along the Kenosha County line, and several farms were impacted. The Village of Mount Pleasant threatened and bullied several large landowners into selling for Foxconn. Kerkman was in the state legislature at this time, and supported this move. When Foxconn fizzled out to less than a third of what they promised, Microsoft came in and purchased that land. Other farmers were faced with the passibility of land being taken via eminent domain for utilities, having their farmland be contaminated— or, sell to Microsoft. Selling became the obvious choice, not because they were old and wanted the money, but because they saw how this would play out and $5m is a lot better than $500k. The Foxconn and Microsoft situation also really inflated land prices, so there’s no way that the smaller family farms who have future generations interested in farming, can grow their holdings.
I really hope that, as people were enjoying their morning on Spoerling’s farm, they realized that the smiling political figureheads are the same ones who have made farming nearly insurmountably difficult for future generations.
I especially hope visitors to the Racine Dairy Breakfast next weekend remember this, because Racine County is Ground Zero for this destruction. Kenosha County is merely a fallout zone.
Sam Kerkman is such a phony. Everything she does hurts her constituents and she hangs around pretending to be your friend.
Maybe, but welcome to 2026 and technology that everyone wants and embracing. Sorry farms, but money and “easyness” win out! We created it…
