KENOSHA, Wis. — Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling has endorsed Sandy Wiedmeyer in her campaign for Wisconsin’s 11th State Senate District, according to a campaign press release issued Tuesday.
Wiedmeyer, a Republican and former chairwoman of the Republican Party of Kenosha County, is seeking the seat in advance of the Aug. 11 Republican primary. The 11th Senate District includes all of Walworth County and portions of Kenosha, Racine, and Rock counties.
In announcing his endorsement, Schmaling cited Wiedmeyer’s record on public safety, parental rights, accountability, and conservative activism throughout southeastern Wisconsin. The campaign said Schmaling pointed to her role in co-founding the Kenosha County chapter of Moms for Liberty — described as the first chapter in Wisconsin — and her efforts recruiting conservative school board candidates.
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling,” Wiedmeyer said in a statement. “Sheriff Schmaling’s endorsement reflects a shared belief that leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about action. It’s about showing up when your community needs you, standing firm, and being willing to do the hard things even when they’re unpopular.”
According to the release, Schmaling also highlighted Wiedmeyer’s support for lowering taxes, defending election integrity, and taking a tough-on-crime approach as priorities she would bring to Madison if elected.
The campaign said it continues to build support among law enforcement officials, local elected leaders, and grassroots conservatives throughout the four-county district ahead of the August primary election.
Wiedmeyer, a former schoolteacher and small business owner, has centered her campaign on repealing Gov. Tony Evers’ controversial 400-year property tax veto, reducing government regulations, restoring parental rights in education, and advancing conservative policies in the Legislature.
The Republican primary for the 11th Senate District is scheduled for Aug. 11.
