PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — State Representative Amanda Nedweski announced Monday that she is endorsing Sandy Wiedmeyer for Wisconsin’s 11th State Senate District, calling Wiedmeyer a strong conservative leader with decades of real-world experience outside of Madison politics. The seat is currently held by longtime State Senator Steve Nass, who announced earlier this year that he will retire from the Legislature. Wiedmeyer is one of three Republicans competing in the August 11 primary election.

“Sandy Wiedmeyer’s strength, tenacity, and professional skills are what we need now in the state senate,” said Nedweski. “A highly successful entrepreneur, business professional, organizational leader, and accomplished parent, she brings a mature and balanced perspective to the legislative negotiating table.” Nedweski said Wiedmeyer’s background separates her from career politicians, saying her experience is “strongly rooted in the real world, not in the Capitol.”

“We have too many career politicians in Madison. Sandy works closely with hardworking Wisconsinites every day,” said Nedweski. “People want a senator who is connected to real working families, not to Madison insiders.” Wiedmeyer’s resume includes her longtime role as operations superintendent for the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex and her service as chair of the Republican Party of Kenosha County since 2022. She also previously owned her own fitness business and was a competitive body builder while raising her family in the Village of Bristol.

In 2021, Wiedmeyer joined Nedweski and three other local parents in starting the first Wisconsin chapter of Moms for Liberty, a national non-profit organization that advocates for parental rights. The group worked to confront government overreach during the pandemic, including efforts to keep schools and businesses open, support medical freedom for children, and oppose what members described as anti-American extremism in classrooms. Nedweski said the organization continues to advocate on issues including keeping boys out of girls’ bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports.

Following her own tragic family experience, Wiedmeyer also advocated for legislation to ensure patients cannot be kept away from their loved ones, even during public health emergencies. Nedweski said Wiedmeyer’s decades of community involvement show she has the experience and judgment needed in Madison.
“Through her decades of service in the community, Sandy has demonstrated a proven commitment to conservative principles and common-sense family values,” said Nedweski. “She has the confidence to stand up when necessary, and the wisdom to know how and when to compromise in the best interest of the people.”

Nedweski said she believes Wiedmeyer will deliver results if elected, saying, “With Sandy Wiedmeyer, we will get results. We will be closer to shrinking the government, lowering taxes, protecting life, and preserving the American Dream.”
