Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department Kicks Off K9 Fundraiser

The Kenosha County Sheriff kicked off its K9 Unit fundraiser Monday morning and they have seen an overwhelming amount of support. Brian Thomas, of Industrial Safety Controls, made the first official donation of $1,000 and received his K9 Riggs gift. Thomas, who is also a County Board Supervisor, issued a challenge to fellow community members and business leaders to make donations of their own.

The Sheriff’s Office has seen donations of $10 to thousands of dollars and every dollar helps. No donation is too small. There is now an online donation link on the Sheriff’s Department website (https://www.kenoshacounty.org/548/Sheriff) where anyone can make a donation. However, in order to receive any sort of gift, donations would still need to be made in person at the Sheriff’s Department front counter – 1000 55th St.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department also partnered with The Lettering Machine (https://theletteringmachine.com/tlm_retail/shop/home) to produce and sell a KSD K9 Unit clothing line. Please visit their website to make that purchase which also benefits the KSD K9 Unit.

Canines are very helpful for law enforcement and public safety. But the sheriff’s department patrols highways in expensive, gas guzzling pickup trucks. Maybe some more conservative budgeting would give it enough money for the canine program.

The sheriffs department could fund canines 10x over if they patrolled the Green Bay Road Racetrack, and S between 31 and I94.
