KENOSHA, Wis. – A Kenosha man is accused of violently attacking his 9-year-old son during a domestic incident that left the child so traumatized he urinated in his pants out of fear. The father now faces felony charges and remains in custody after a court appearance Friday.

Coy W. Turner Jr., 37, appeared before Kenosha County Court Commissioner Donald Bielski, who set bail at $10,000 cash and scheduled a preliminary hearing for May 9. Bielski acknowledged the gravity of the allegations, stating in court that the charges are “very serious.”

According to a criminal complaint filed Friday, the alleged assault occurred on Sunday, May 4, at Turner’s home on the 6300 block of 55th Street in the City of Kenosha. The child’s mother brought him to the Public Safety Building to report what had happened, and police launched an investigation.

The child, identified in court records only by his initials, told police that Turner became enraged after accusing the boy of spending $300 on his credit card. The boy denied making the purchase, but Turner allegedly responded by yelling at him to come downstairs, then grabbing him by the throat and lifting him off the ground. The child said he was held in the air by his neck for several seconds before Turner slammed him down with enough force that his tailbone and head struck the floor, causing immediate pain.

A forensic interview conducted days later at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin revealed further details. The boy said his father “choked” him for approximately seven seconds until he couldn’t breathe, describing the sensation as “like somebody was picking me up and shooting me in the head.” He told the interviewer he feared for his life and thought, “this actually might be the last time I might live.”

The boy’s 15-year-old sister also witnessed portions of the event and corroborated the account. She told officers that she heard Turner yelling violent threats at her younger brother, including, “I’m going to kill you by ripping your face off and sending it to your worthless mother.” She reported hearing multiple loud bangs, which she described as sounding like a bowling ball hitting a hardwood floor, before her brother began to cry. Turner then ordered all the children to “pack up your bags and get the fuck out of the house.”

Fearing for their safety, the teenage girl loaded her siblings into a vehicle and left. Turner called her repeatedly afterward, and during one of the calls, allegedly said, “Bring them back home right now.” He also sent a text message threatening that “your brother is going to die if he keep this bull shit up, and that is a promise.”

The child was evaluated at Aurora Hospital’s emergency room, where he described pain in his neck, back, and head. During the forensic interview, he demonstrated the choking with a pincher grip motion and said that while there were no broken bones, his neck hurt and made a cracking sound. He said Turner had previously punched him and destroyed his Xbox after the attack.

Assistant District Attorney Sarah Norkus filed the charges, which include two Class H felonies: strangulation and suffocation, and physical abuse of a child. Each carries a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Turner also faces a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, punishable by up to 90 days in jail.

In total, Turner faces a maximum possible sentence of 13 years and 90 days behind bars if convicted on all counts.

The case is assigned to Kenosha County Circuit Judge Jason Rossell. As of Friday, Turner remained in custody at the Kenosha County Jail.

    1. THIS!!! Didn’t Commissioner Bilski just start? He is already terrible. Also, let’s not forget how many people he defended in court that were complete scumbags. I often wonder how these types of people sleep at night.

    2. Two part-time commissioners are appointed by each judge and serve through the judge’s term subject to annual reviews. For example, Attorney Paul Gagliardi and former Assistant D.A. Richard Ginkowski were appointed by Judge Bruce Schroeder who later retired although Gagliardi was not an active commissioner. When Gagliardi’s son was appointed to succeed Schroeder as judge, he continued those appointments. But Heather Iverson defeated Gagliardi in the next election and, as the previous commissioners did not endorse her, they were not reappointed. To the victor goes the spoils, so to speak.

  3. This disgusting excuse of a man needs to be locked up for life. I can only hope the other prisoners give him a warm welcome

    1. What he did was vile—no question. But all you pitchfork-wavers screaming for a life sentence while begging convicted felons to finish the job? You’re not after justice, you’re just too cowardly to admit you crave violence—you just want someone else’s hands bloody so yours stay clean.

  4. Oh that poor little boy and the rest of his children probably will need therapy as well.I hope he never has any unsupervised visits with his children ever again. Not sure if Mom is an option since nobody in their right mind should hook up with a so called “man” like this. He is a monster. I will pray for his children.

Unmanaged Stress or Anger: When people don’t know how to process strong emotions like anger, fear, or frustration, they might lash out violently.

Lack of Coping Skills: Without healthy ways to manage conflict or emotional pain, violence can seem like the only way to express or resolve issues.

Environmental Influence: Growing up in violent homes or communities can normalize aggression as a way to solve problems.

Mental Health Issues: Conditions like PTSD, depression, or personality disorders can sometimes lead to impulsive or aggressive behavior.

Peer Pressure or Cultural Norms: In some settings, violence may be encouraged or seen as a sign of strength.

Feeling Powerless: Some use violence to regain a sense of control or power over their environment or relationships.

As a society and in our schools, we need to teach how to destress ourselves from situations that triggers us so we can e better parents, better human beings.

Promote Emotional Regulation: Learning how to calm down during stress helps people think more clearly and make better choices.

Reduces Aggressive Impulses: Techniques like deep breathing, mindfulness, or physical activity can help release built-up tension non-violently.

Builds Coping Mechanisms: It gives people tools to handle conflict, disappointment, or fear in healthy ways.

We need to really look at focusing on the whys of what makes this individual and others resort to violence.

  6. Maximum 6 years for each charge? You can damage a child psychologically for life and the maximum penalty is 6 years… No wonder child abuse is so prevalent. Any adult committing this kind of abuse should be in jail for minimum 10 years and more depending on the nature of the abuse. Harming a child in this way is not only physically damaging but a lifetime of mental health issues. It’s sickening.
