KENOSHA, Wis. — Ray C. Brantley Jr., 38, of Kenosha, was in court and charged today after police say they responded Sunday night to a 911 call from a woman who said she was trying to “get out of here safely.” According to the criminal complaint, officers went to Brantley’s upstairs apartment in the 5100 block of 20th Avenue around 10:37 p.m., where he acknowledged an argument with an ex-girlfriend but refused to let officers check the residence. When officers announced they would conduct a protective sweep based on the 911 call, Brantley allegedly stiffened his arms and resisted efforts to detain him before being handcuffed.
