KENOSHA, Wis. — A Twin Lakes man who led police on a dangerous, high-speed chase through a busy Kenosha neighborhood last fall was sentenced Monday to just 30 days in jail by Judge Heather Iverson, despite facing up to three years in prison on the lone felony conviction—coming amid dozens of police chases in the past year and raising concerns about what message such outcomes send to those who continue to flee from law enforcement in Kenosha County.

Dallas G. Castillo, 18, of Twin Lakes, was originally charged on Nov. 13, 2025, after a chaotic incident in which authorities say he fled from police while driving recklessly through city streets, putting officers, passengers, and the public at risk.
According to court records, Castillo initially received a $25,000 cash bail set by Court Commissioner William Michael II. On Jan. 16, 2026, Judge Iverson reduced that bail to $10,000 cash, which Castillo posted within weeks.
The case stemmed from a Nov. 12, 2025 incident in which a Kenosha police officer attempted to stop a smoking vehicle in the 2200 block of 52nd Street. Instead of stopping, prosecutors say Castillo accelerated, eventually reaching speeds of about 65 mph in a 30 mph zone while driving through the heavily populated Uptown neighborhood.
During the encounter, one passenger jumped from the moving vehicle to avoid being part of the chase, while other motorists were forced to take evasive action to avoid a collision. Police ultimately terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns before locating the abandoned vehicle and later arresting Castillo.
Castillo was originally charged with three counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, one count of fleeing or eluding an officer, and one count of resisting an officer.
As part of a plea agreement, Castillo pleaded guilty to a single count of fleeing or eluding an officer, a Class H felony. The remaining felony and misdemeanor charges were dismissed on the prosecutor’s motion.

At sentencing Monday, Judge Iverson ordered Castillo to serve 30 days in jail immediately, with an additional 150 days stayed and available if he violates probation. He was also placed on three years of probation and taken into custody following the hearing.
Following the sentencing, the court denied a request from the defense to allow work release privileges.

Weird plea bargain and weird sentence.
She could have imposed one year of jail as a condition of probation instead of six months. She stayed five months. Why would she give up the opportunity to hammer this little mope harder if he screws up?
