WILMOT, Wis. — The Riverport Chorus of Sweet Adelines International has once again earned top audience recognition at a regional a cappella competition, taking home the 2026 Audience Choice Bravo Award during the Region 3 Midwest Harmony Competition & Convention held earlier this month in Milwaukee.
The Wilmot-based chorus received the award for the second consecutive year following its Open Division performance at the event, which was held at the Miller High Life Theater and streamed live online.
“The Bravo Award is presented for the Open Division, which consists of performance/entertainment packages with emcee work and multiple songs to tell a story,” Riverport Chorus Director Laurel Peterson said in a news release. Peterson explained that the Audience Choice honor is generally selected through viewer polling and differs from the competition’s traditional International Division, which focuses strictly on vocal performance.
Riverport’s award-winning set included performances of “When the Red, Red Robin Comes Bob-Bob-Bobbin’ Along,” “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” and “Joy.” The production also featured several chorus members serving as emcees and soloists, with approximately 30 performers taking the stage.
The chorus celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2024 and continues to rehearse weekly in western Kenosha County. During the school year, rehearsals are held Monday evenings at Wilmot Union High School. For the summer season, the group plans to meet at Westosha Lakes Church in Salem Lakes. Guests are welcome to attend rehearsals.
Riverport Chorus is part of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization dedicated to women’s barbershop harmony and a cappella performance.
