KENOSHA, Wis. — Drivers in Kenosha will encounter traffic changes and construction activity at two locations beginning this week as the City of Kenosha moves forward with roadway improvement projects on Washington Road and 18th Street.
The City announced Thursday that the final phase of a Wisconsin Department of Transportation construction project at the intersection of 30th Avenue and Washington Road is now underway. As part of the work, traffic has been shifted to the inside lanes while outside lanes are closed so crews can complete restoration work, remaining sidewalk construction, and retaining wall adjustments.
The revised traffic pattern also restores left-turn movements in all directions at the busy intersection, a change expected to improve traffic flow while the final work is completed. City officials said the project is anticipated to take approximately four weeks, with a target completion date of July 3, weather permitting.
Meanwhile, a separate roadway rehabilitation project is scheduled to begin Monday, June 8, on 18th Street between 30th Avenue and 22nd Avenue. The work will include pavement rehabilitation and other improvements intended to preserve the roadway and maintain safe travel conditions for motorists.
City officials expect the 18th Street project to last approximately two to three weeks, depending on weather conditions. Drivers traveling through the area should expect temporary traffic impacts and are encouraged to use caution near construction crews and equipment.
Additional information about traffic restrictions and project updates for the 18th Street work will be released as construction progresses. City officials thanked residents and motorists for their patience as the projects move toward completion.
