Gregory Donald Bennett Jr., 41 of Pleasant Prairie, was invited to write an op-ed in the local rag. Bennett attempted to run for Alderman in Kenosha twice- once in 2016 and again in 2018. Apparently, he wasn’t allowed access to the ballet because of several errors with his paperwork, including signatures that were obtained from the wrong district. In this article, he seems to have limited knowledge about the subject matter, but the Kenosha News printed anyway. Aside from the severe grammatical and spelling errors, he seems upset that W.I.C. isn’t paying rent for some local Kenosha residents. What Bennett and the Kenosha News don’t know: W.I.C. doesn’t offer rental assistance. This is according to a response op-ed written by Essie Allen, the Chief Executive Officer at Racine/Kenosha Community action agency, INC. and Pam Halbach, the Kenosha Director. They said that Bennett and the Kenosha News “presented the reader with some key misinformation.” They point out the inaccuracies in his article and wrote that “facts are important.”

Hypocrisies and a little help from a friend (DA Michael Graveley)

In Bennett’s op-ed, he also talks about how citizens in Kenosha only feel “more safe” when they carry a gun, to protect themselves from the police. In 2015, Bennett was charged with a weapons crime. He was pulled over after driving from tavern to tavern and violating traffic laws. His nephew was driving the car and was arrested for multiple warrants. Bennett was uncooperative with the Kenosha Sheriff’s deputy and denied that there were any weapons in the car, which belonged to him. He later came clean when the Deputy could see ammunition in plain view. The Deputy noted that Bennett’s breath smelled of intoxicants. Bennett strangely told the Deputy that he was going to run for Alderman. He was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon. According to CCAP, at the time, Michael Graveley inserted himself as the prosecutor. This is not very common. The Deputy DA usually only personally prosecutes high-profile crimes such as homicides. Graveley quickly dismissed the charges. We asked Graveley if this was due to his pro-BLM tendencies and because of their friendship.

Second DWI

Last month, Bennett was arrested and charged with his second DWI near his home in Pleasant Prairie. His first DUI was charged and convicted in Washington State. According to the criminal complaint, a neighbor at his mobile home park called the police because Bennett backed into his daughter’s car and took off. Bennett later returned to the scene and blew about twice the legal limit. He admitted to the hit and run and not having insurance. He blamed the situation on an argument with his fiance. The Judge assigned, is Mary K Wagner, who will almost certainly go easy on him. We asked the DA if he was going to be dismissing his friend Bennett’s criminal charge like he’d done in the past. DA Graveley did not respond to any of the Kenosha County Eye’s questions, leading to increased suspicion. It seems to be almost be a certainty for BLM and Antifa activists, that they have criminal pasts – sometimes significant, like Raymond Roberts, Sharmain Harris, and others. Many think we need leaders in this community that are of a higher moral character.
