Ever since Porche Bennett (D) 32, of Kenosha (aka Porche Bennett-Bey aka Mookie Bey) has been featured as TIME Magazine’s “Guardian of the year”, we’ve all heard the same question asked over and over: “Who the hell is she?!” This is the thing. No one seems to know. For someone featured in a national publication, you would at least think she would be known in her community, right? We did the work for you and dug into her background to see who she is.

According to all public records, we’ve found, Porche’s name is “Porche Bennett”. TIME magazine calls her “Porche Bennett-Bey” and she calls herself “Mookie Bey” on Facebook. Porche has had been getting arrested all the way back to when she was a juvenile and as recent as August 12, 2020. This arrest in August seemed to start her “activism.”

In 2005, when she was 17, she was arrested for Disorderly Conduct/Retail theft and convicted in Kenosha Municipal Court in 2006. In 2009, Porche was in a dispute with her neighbors and was yelling profanities. She was warned multiple times by police and she responded with ” FUCKING ARREST ME THEN!” After several warnings Porche was arrested and charged. Her neighbor wrote a statement that Porche acts like this every night, even with a neighbor trying to rest with cancer. This problem was so regular that two KPD officers were assigned to specially patrol that area. Porche was convicted in Kenosha Circuit Court later that year.

Carrying a Gun Near a School?

Porche is usually seen carrying a gun in public. We at the KCE are glad she is a strong supporter of the second amendment, but here is the thing – if you are not a Concealed Carry License holder, it is a crime to be within 1,000 feet of a school zone while armed. That is exactly what might have happened when Porche recently marched with Jesse Jackson.

Dakota Walden, Porche’s Felon Friend

Dakota Walden, a felon who was convicted in 2017 of fleeing-eluding was up to no good on August 12, 2020 according to court documents. Police received a tip that Walden was driving with a gun in his car – this is a serious crime, as he is a felon. Police found him driving and as he sped off, he put pedestrians in danger by almost hitting them. His car got trapped and he bailed out of the car. He jumped a fence and threw his gun. Officers then attempted to place Walden under arrest but he resisted for many minutes and kept shouting “shoot me!” He was clutching many bags of cocaine in his hand. A group of people including Porche Bennett began to surround officers and impede his apprehension. Porche was live-streaming her conduct on Facebook. She yelled profanity at police many times and got too close for the officers’ comfort. Just like in 2009, she didn’t listen to officers’ repeated instructions. They told her many, many times to get back. She was upset that Walden was being placed under arrest “just for weed”. Well as it turns out, it wasn’t just for “weed”. Walden was charged the next day with:

Obstructing an officer (repeater)

Resisting an officer (repeater)

Walden faces more than 20 years behind bars.

Porche was arrested that night for Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing an officer.

This is not the type of person “activists” should be supporting, especially violently like Porche did. Porche kept bringing up the race of the police officers, which suggest she herself is racist. She seems to hate law enforcement. Not just the bad ones, but ALL of law enforcement. This is evident throughout this video and from the details from one of her previous arrests. She called the officers “fucking assholes”, “dummies”, and other disrespectful names. Our peace-keepers deserve better. TIME Magazine got this wrong. Porche Bennett is not someone to be celebrated. She should reform herself before trying to changes others. She is a rude, profane, and loud-mouthed nuisance that doesn’t have a right to tell this community what it needs to change. She needs to start with herself, then proceed accordingly. People like Porche do a disservice to the police reform movement. TIME magazine needs to do some simple research before they give accolades to this type of person. Shame on them
