A Kenosha woman is facing many years behind bars after police and prosecutors say she crashed into a tree, driving about 100 miles per hour while drunk. Erika M McCoy was charged with six felonies and given four traffic citations today stemming from a almost-deadly crash from Wednesday evening.

According to the criminal complaint Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of Sheridan Rd. just after 6:00 pm on Wednesday for an accident with injuries. Two children were involved. McCoy’s Jeep Grand Cherokee crashed into a tree. McCoy has a suspended driver’s license and was cited just days ago for driving without a license. McCoy was screaming about back pain and cuts to her face. McCoy’s two and seven year-old children were in the car at the time of the accident. Neither was in a car seat. The 7-year-old was ejected from the car and sustained life-threatening injuries. She had severe head trauma, a brain bleed, seizures, a cervical spine fracture and was breathing with a ventilator. The 2-year old needed stitches to close a laceration on her forehead.

A witness estimated that McCoy was driving erratically and going between 90 and 100 miles per hour almost hitting other cars. Deputies could detect an odor of intoxicants and later drew McCoy’s blood. The preliminary breath test, which is not admissible at trial, came in at .155 – almost twice the legal limit. A Drug Recognition Expert from the State Police concluded that McCoy was under the influence of stimulants and alcohol. The blood test is still pending.

In court today, defense attorney Melynda Benjamin told the court that her client has no previous criminal history and had recently received a cancer diagnosis. She asked for a $300 cash bond.

  1. No story on why berg isn’t posting and questioning this lawyer? Or does he only post when it fits his political agenda. Asking for a story on that.

      1. Because hypocrisy should be called out, especially when they are so vocal about politics in this city. Voting for party over morals is disgusting, he apparently was in military and never learned the values

        1
        1
        1. Again who cares if he is vocal about politics. He is a fucking nobody and no one gives a shit what he has to say.

          1. Sheeesh. Someone is easily triggered huh? Next time people should ask your permission before commenting about Someone. Half the people he writes about are losers and nobody’s.

  2. Your honor sue recently got a cancer diagnosis, so it’s no big deal she’s driving drunk and on drugs with her kids in the car, driving recklessly not trying to follow the traffic flow……
Everyone at a bond hearing should have to show a pay stub and w2 to see if they “need” to be out of jail…. Society should know, the judge should know.

  3. What does society do with the people that harm their children physically, emotionally, financially ? It is a very tough question, but the answer seems obvious.
Punish the parents severely if necessary and find a way to remove the child to stop the cycle of pain and misery ? Perhaps we grossly underestimate how many abysmal parents exist in our society. It would not be difficult to track down, monitor and remove these children before all hope is lost. Throw every left wing radical ACLU piece of shit lawyer in a hard labor camp if they interfere. Give this children to loving, stable families that will produce good citizens and pay these families well because it is still far cheaper than prison or a life on public assistance. One day when we can completely remove the far left cancer that has destroyed our inner city public school system perhaps these precious children will have a fighting chance.

  4. Wait a minute. I thought the public school system was suppose to recognize and help children and families that were having serious problems like this. I mean after all, the system has these children in classrooms 5-6 hours per day 180 plus days per year, for 13 fucking years at a cost to taxpayers of over 200k in todays dollars??? What a great investment for America right. The system, for the 1,000th time unfortunately dropped the fucking ball again with this mother and the children. They were probably too busy concentrating on gender neutral bathrooms, racial injustice, BLM, critical race theory, salaries, pensions, benefits , fattening up the blob and every other fucking issue except truly helping the people in the community that need it most. Who wins. The lawyers, the school vendors, contractors, the administration, the race hustling pieces of shit and everyone else that gets fat off of the KUSD monster size tit. Thank you Yolanda and company.
