KENOSHA, Wis. – A community clean-up and family kite festival will take over Lincoln Park on Saturday, Sept. 27, with trash pick-up starting at 10 a.m. by the Oribiletti Center on Martin Luther King Drive, followed by the “Time to Fly Kite Fest” from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The City of Kenosha and the Kenosha Parks Alliance are teaming up with Gift of Wings to bring professional stunt-kite demonstrations choreographed to music, children’s games and activities, and a community picnic atmosphere.
This year’s fest mirrors June’s larger “Outta Sight Kite Flight” at Kennedy Park, scaled for a fall afternoon at Lincoln Park. Organizers say kids who register for the “Kids Mad Dash” at 12:45 p.m. will receive a free kite courtesy of the Mary Lou and Arthur F. Mahone Fund, then sprint to launch together in a mass takeoff. Attendees are welcome to bring their own kites and jump into friendly contests for prizes throughout the event.
Food and family perks are built in. The Kenosha Kingfish will serve a free lunch at the concession pavilion near 18th Avenue, and Culver’s on Sheridan Road will dish out complimentary custard. Community partners will host information booths, crafts and games, while Gift of Wings’ Scott Fisher and a crew of pro fliers keep the sky busy overhead.
The day caps a season of special parks programming overseen by the Kenosha Parks Alliance and is free to the public. Volunteers are encouraged to arrive at 10 a.m. for the clean-up; bags and gloves will be provided on site.

The “community” in Lincoln Park neighborhood are the ones responsible for dirtying up the neighborhood. It’ll be trashed again by Sunday. Waste of resources.
