PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — A Pleasant Prairie woman accused of fleeing the scene of a deadly crash pleaded guilty Monday morning just before her jury trial was scheduled to begin in Kenosha County Circuit Court.

Briona A. Bishop, 35, of Pleasant Prairie, entered a guilty plea to felony hit-and-run resulting in death during a hearing before Judge Jodi L. Meier after the case had been set for trial the same morning. Court records show the plea was entered at 8:46 a.m., with Kenosha County District Attorney Xavier Solis appearing for the state and Bishop represented by defense attorney Brenda L. VanCuick.
The case had been in “trial posture” for several days, with jury instructions already filed and proceedings scheduled to begin Monday morning. Instead, Bishop resolved the case with a plea agreement placed on the record shortly before jury selection was expected to begin.
The court ordered a presentence investigation and scheduled sentencing for May 1, 2026.

Prosecutors alleged Bishop was driving a black Cadillac on April 27, 2025, when she struck 26-year-old Tobi Moeri, who was riding a scooter in the 8900 block of Old Green Bay Road in Pleasant Prairie. According to the criminal complaint, responding officers found Moeri lying in the roadway with severe head injuries and gasping for air before being transported to a hospital.
Investigators later determined the vehicle involved was a Cadillac connected to Bishop. Surveillance footage captured the vehicle speeding through a nearby apartment complex moments after the crash with visible damage to the hood and windshield, according to investigators.
Police also recovered audio from an apartment complex security camera that captured a woman believed to be Bishop’s sister, Alexis Dodson, speaking on the phone and telling Bishop to come to her apartment shortly after the crash.

Authorities say Bishop drove to Dodson’s apartment following the crash, and the damaged Cadillac was later found hidden in a garage at their mother’s home in Zion, Illinois. Officers located the vehicle with front-end damage consistent with evidence from the crash scene.

Bishop declined to make a statement to investigators after her arrest.
Hit-and-run resulting in death is a Class D felony in Wisconsin and carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
Bishop has remained in custody throughout the case. Sentencing is scheduled for May 1.

District Attorney Xavier Solis stated:
“This guilty plea brings accountability in a tragic case arising from the defendant’s conduct on April 27, 2025. A person lost their life, and the family has waited nearly a year for justice. This case was prepared for trial, and this office was ready to present the evidence to a jury. Instead, the defendant chose to admit her guilt. We will continue to stand with victims and their families and pursue accountability in every serious case.”
Dodson’s case is still pending.

Section 8 housing brings the ghetto to Pleasant Prairie.
Why not just stop and get the guy help? Good grief we have no humanity anymore. Prob doing drugs or on the phone. Shitty people everywhere, now.
What the heck is wrong with this woman’s sister?! The sister should of told her to stay at the scene of the accident. Not help her flee and hide the car at their mother’s house! Disgusting humans!
Here comes probation
The only remorse she has is getting caught. She is a piece of trash and should be discarded as such.
Are those hair balls on her head similar to the family stick figures on car windows?
You can tell the chunky one was the brains of the outfit, the mop head one listens to everything she says.
